Yoga 2 Bios Update Crash

2013-11-20, 3:49 AM

I just purchased my Yoga 2 Pro this afternoon, got it set up, began to run drivers updates, did the Nov 13 bios update for a 8 Gb ram 256 GB memory, Windows 8.1.

Got to the end of the update - and lights out. I now have a keyboard-glowing paper weight. for the last 30 minutes.

Suggestions?

Press the power button for 30s till the computer powers off and then turn on the computer. If you read the instructions, you would know that this is normal ;)... But no worries I never read them either lol.

same thing happened to mine. i have the i7 model from Bestbuy. after the bios update it wouldn't restart...but the backlit keyboard lights were on. had to manually restart. no issues since. but i wonder, is this normal for everone? or is it happening to only a certain configurations/models of the y2p?

I had the same issue and had to manually shut it down but now the keyboard isn't backlit anymore and the screen isn't as bright even at the highest setting. Is there anyway to uninstall the BIOS update or to rectify this? I just bought the i5 model today.

I don't think you can roll it back. if your pc is working, just leave it alone and wait for the next bios update. if you cant/don't want to wait, just return/exchange it for another one.

Do the following:

Charms > Computer Settings > PC and Devices > Power Settings and turn OFF adaptive brightness.

[Then....]

There is one additional setting that needs to be turned off to completely disable adaptive brightness and it is located in
the Intel HD graphics control panel. Open it, go to "Power" settings and then "On Battery". Here, turn off "Display power
saving technology". This should clear up the brightness thing many have been complaining about.

For the keyboard, press Fn + spacebar and see if that works.

Right...actually this is the correct answer. It worked for me.

Charms > Computer Settings > PC and Devices > Power Settings and turn OFF adaptive brightness.
