Yoga 2 Freezes Anytime I Try to Adjust Volume Settings

Its a strange one that has been going on for a long time. Click the speaker icon and I am done. Completely frozen with beeps. Local IT guy can't figure it out. Any ideas?

 

Otherwise everything is fine.

Thanks for posting here!

 

Just to ask:

  • What type of Yoga 2 laptop are you using? Can you please provide its MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications?
  • Also, does it freezes when playing any audio files/tracks and while adjusting the volume?
  • Does this only happens when playing audio using the device's built-in speakers?
  • When did this started to happen? Did this started to happen after an update?

Check first if there are any available Windows OS updates on the device and download/install it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Its Model: Yoga 2 Pro - 59418309.

 

Funny thing: the issue with volume control freezing the laptop has been going on for a long time (1 year+). It happens whether or not anything is playing, just accessing the controls freezes the unit.

 

And just now I tried to open general computer settings - and it froze. So its not just the volume setting, its Settings in general.

Please check this link as well as this previous post to see the troubleshooting steps that can be done towards this concern.

You may download the Lenovo Diagnostics tool through this link to run it on the device to check its components.

 

Also, check if the issue also occurs when the Yoga 2 Pro laptop is in Safe Mode.
