Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

I just inserted an SD card in my Y2P and it sticks out. I was totally under the impression it would be flushed like most Ultrabook. What's up with that Lenovo??

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

Hi, thank you for your post! Can you upload a photo of the issue to this thread, please? How much sticks out? Thanks very much. I want to buy a yoga but still waiting and reading about issues...

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

Nope, it sticks out.  That is how it works although I agree it is a bit odd.  It only goes in about half way but it works.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

Can someone tell me if the SD Card protrudes or is flush when inserted into the card slot on a Yoga 2 Pro?  If it does protrude, how far does it stick out?

Also, does the Y2P support SDXC or just SDHC cards?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

It sticks out a fair amount, maybe 1 cm.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

I hope someone gives this a shot:

http://theminidrive.com/TheMiniDrive.com/Specs.html

If this works, it could be a cheap way to add extra space to the Y2P.

The cheapest alternative I found:

http://www.amazon.com/DoSeen-Nifty-MiniDrive-Adapter-MacBook/dp/B00F87S67O/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&...

Waiting for my lenovo to ship. Knowing this company, it will take 1-2 months to get it. Anyone wants to try this out?

If it works nicely, please link to the one you used, with measurements and pictures (again, please Smiley Happy).

Edit:

Extra option:

http://www.amazon.com/PhotoFast-Expansion-15-Inch-CR-8700-MBPR15/dp/B00EC0SLV4/ref=sr_1_22?s=electro...

I hope I made someone's day today. Cause if this works, we have to buy cheap microSD cards to exapand our HDD Smiley Very Happy.

Looks promising:

Spoiler
It'll go in any SD card slot. The issue is the depth of the slot. If the slot shallows a whole standard SD card the you will have a problem! If a standard SD card sticks out then fine give it a go! It works in a lenovo webbook and a Satellite Pro!                   Source: http://www.amazon.com/Books-maybe-Samsung-Ultrabook-900X3C/forum/Fx267UBQLACVAS2/Tx27P7JXL49AOXK/1/r...

Now the qestion is, does the lenovo webbook SD slot have the same depth as the lenovo Yoga 2?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

I may order the Nifty Minidrive, but right now I like my SanDisk Cruser fit. Fast for a little USB drive.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

I plan to buy one, but first I wanna get my computer and make sure I don't return it. I have a bad history with Lenovo and this is the last shot I am ever gonna give them. If all goes well, I'll buy one and post a review on the forum. However that may not be for 2+ months cuz delivery alone will take 1 month. So I hope someone can try it out b4 and let me know.... Else I will let everyone know in the future.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot

Minidrives:  It looks like most of these are about 2.1cm (21mm) to 2.3cm (23mm) long.  From what I can tell, it looks like the Yoga 2 Pro SD slot is about 1.75cm (17.5mm) long, so all of these "mini" adapters are still going to stick out of the slot quite a bit.  And with the Y2P being wider than the average 13-inch notebook, I'm just barely managing to squeeze it into whatever case I'm using.  So, unless someone comes out with an even shorter version, this isn't going to be too satisfying.

The concept is extremely sound, though -- I've got a little Acer S7 11-inch notebook, which has a flush-fitting MicroSD card slot, and with its 128 SSD capacity, I just use a 64 GB microSD card to hold all of my "data" files, not touching the internal SSD at all.  It's just a fabulous way to deal with small SSD capacities.

So, great idea, but I'm sure we would want an adapter that's quite a bit shorter than these Mac-based things.
