Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Screen Flickering and Screen Blanking

Did they say what they think might be the problem.

I did have the issue show up one more time the other day, but stopped. I didn't have the shut down like last time. This doesn't feel like a hardware problem, it feels driver related.

I am having this problem as well... Not so often, but the screen likes to flicker every once in a while. Sometimes I loose touch input completely. I need to reboot the system to get it back working (keyboard works).

If Lenovo said to take the system in for repairs, then the issue would most probably be hardware:(

Yes, I understand. I was hoping to hear from the commentor on what Lenovo thinks the problem is. I would send mine in for repair as well.

Yuck, I have this issue as well on my two-week-old Yoga 2 Pro.

The flickering occurs when running with a low screen brightness on the battery - both in power saving mode and in daily mode.

I can't consistently reproduce it and most of the time I can make it go away by increasing the screen brightness.

The flickering is like sitting in front of an old CRT monitor with extremely low frequency.

I'm running fully updated drivers from Lenovo and fully updated bios (although the new bios did not solve the yellow color issue at all...)

I thought issues like these would have been solved in the first generation Yoga :(

Same problem here, on battery screen will suddenly start blinking rapidly. Closing the lid seems to stop it and/or leaving it alone for a minute or two. I've turned off the power management, hopefully that will fix it otherwise I'll want my money back!...

Try to disable screen refresh from the power options of the Intel HD graphics controller.  Since then, I have not had the issue again (but not absolutely sure about it)...

I have the problem with the screen flickering as well.  This can occur in battery mode or when it is plugged in and becomes noticeable once the brightness goes below 40%.  I have disabled all the three areas for auto-adjusting brightness, but the problem still persists.  I have also tried updating the display and graphics drivers as well as using the new power management/bios update.

Can anyone offer a solution please?  Thank you.

PS: Does anyone find that after the power management/bios update that the brightness is a little bit lower than before?  Or is that just me imagining things?

Has anyone actually talked with Lenovo tech support about this? I saw that someone did and it was suggested the laptop be sent in. I'd love to hear if this happened, meaning if the laptop was sent in.

I have only had it happen two times, but I don't use it everyday. I will from now on. I have brightness turned all the way up and a balanced power plan with little changes in the plan.
Auto brightness is disabled and all the lastest drivers. I got my unit on dec 20th.
I actually completely reformatted mine to get rid of all the extra crap that is installed.

My feeling is that it's driver-related, so while Lenovo might allow you to send it in, if I'm right then you're wasting your time with that.  The reason I think it's driver-related is that I can seem to "fix" the problem by adjusting the power settings in the Intel Graphics Control Panel.  Off the main panel, select Power, then in the Power section select "On Battery".  I turn off all three options (Panel Self-Refresh, Display Power Saving Technology, and Extend Battery Life for Gaming).  Then I don't see the problem.  The problem may be related to just one of those settings, but I haven't had the time to play detective more than that.

I felt it was driver related too and mentioned in this thread earlier. Just didn't have much to go on.
I've disabled two and will use my yoga more now and see what happens. How often did you have the problem before?
