Yoga 2 Pro Touchscreen After Sleep

2015-02-19, 4:38 AM

Hello

I've recently been having a problem with my Yoga 2 Pro 13'. When I close the lid and put the computer to sleep and then awaken it, the touchscreen does not work. However, if I then do it again, the touchscreen starts working again.

Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution to it?

Thanks

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Touchscreen After Sleep

I have the same issue, except it only happens once in a while. One time it happened in the middle of me using it!! Making it go to sleep and back again always resolves it, but it's annoying.

Looking online, people have had similar issues, and it might be related to power management issues. Basically, the touchscreen functionality turns off after a period of time to conserve power. Apparently, this feature is standard when it comes to USB devices, which is how the touchscreen is actually connected to the motherboard - weird I know.

Anyway, if you go to the link below (dated 2013, so I assume it's for the Lenovo Yoga 1), you'll find instructions to turn that off that 'feature"

https://cogitoabsurdum.wordpress.com/2013/05/30/how-to-fix-the-lenovo-yoga-13-touch-it-misses-swipes-because-it-sleeps/

Unfortunately, the device ID does not match with my machine (Yoga 2 Pro 13"), and I'm hesitant to experiment with it.

Let me know if it helped you!

**********UPDATE

I tested it out by disabling one of the USB Input Devices (see link) and trying to use the touch screen. If you disable the right one, a bunch of stuff under the Human Interface Devices also disappear until you enable it again, so that's how you can check.

Going through how the guy did it in the link above, the hardware ID was "USB\VID_04F3&PID_040D" and "USB\VID_04F3&PID_040D&REV_1111"

Since it is an intermittent issue, I will update back in a few days and let you guys know if it worked. If I forget (I probably will), assume it worked - since if it didn't work, I'll be coming back here for solutions :-P

Same issue and no idea about a fix... Thanks for the mentioning of doing it again and working again. I had the habit of restarting the laptop so this at least helps a bit. Only thing I noticed in windows error/event was some error wrt bluetooth which I had turned off, turned it on to see if that does anything...

My Y2P is doing the same thing...

I did put a new synaptics driver (or the generatic driver - 17.0.19.0) in because the touch screen was really laggy..

Then after that I had two problems... One was this disccusion about the sleep, and the other the touchpad not turning off while in laptop mode. I found a script to fix the second issue that some wrote..

But maybe I just need to go back to the lenovo specific driver and live with the laggy touch screen... I notice the lag in Chrome however it did work in IE..

Hey again

I haven't found a permanent fix, but I found out that if instead of just closing the lid, if you press the power button on the side and then close the lid, the touchscreen should always work when you open the lid.

Hope this helps

I have exactly the same issue. Furthermore my bluetooth, gyroscope and other sensors fail too. Seems like a drivers issue, but not sure.

I will try uninstalling all Lenovo software, and maybe restoring windows.

Did anyone find a solution? I just bought the laptop and I'm considering returning it.

I managed to fix it without knowing what I did!

I just refreshed Windows. I know the problem lies in the various bloat-ware
Lenovo has put on their machines, including Yoga Picks, Yoga Transition,
etc. Re-installing them one by one didn't do the trick, since I probably
missed something. Maybe they work together somehow? In the end, I just gave
up and refreshed it.

Now it works fine. I usually hate bloatware, but the Yoga doesn't have
significant speed issues anyway, and the programs themselves are light.

I hope this helps (even though it's a bit of a non-answer)!

I have the same problem. This happens with the USB 2 Port too. Very frustrating. Is there any solution for this issue?

Thanks for the help!
I will try it. I also uninstall this stuff by default, who would say it could be actually useful... :)
