On my particular system, the sticker wasn't pressed down very well in the first place.  I used an x-acto knife to gently slip under the label and worked it on both sides of the Wifi module.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro WiFi Replacement Cards????

WiFi card crapped out on my Yoga 2 I bought for Christmas, was gonna order a replacement one today, but it's outta stock on Newegg and I can't find the thing sold by an American website anywhere else.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106229

Any reason why I can't find the freakin' thing anywhere? It'd really piss me of if it's discontinued for whatever reason. And if it IS discontinued, what else could I get as a replacement card?

@RealreeByGod...

As you mention you only got your machine several months ago, have you considered contacting Service to get the part replaced under warranty?

Regards.

Anyone knows if the card replacement works on the Y2 13 NON PRO ? It comes with the same crapy single band card.

Disabling Intel DPTF seemed to fix the issue for my friend. When I get my computer fixed, I will test and let you guys know. For anyone who would like to try, go into the Bios and scroll to the 2nd page. From there, disable DPTF.

Heck if this turns out to be the fix, the biggest issue with this laptop will be fixed!

So far it seems that the DPTF kills power to the wifi card (even though the power saver mode has been disabled via the driver's settings).

Re: Yoga 2 Pro WiFi Replacement Cards????

2014-07-06, 23:49 PM

So this afternoon I attempted to replace the wifi card with the dual band AC card that I got from M Factor.  But for the life of me I couldn't remove the screw that was securing the existing card.  I used a P00 and couldn't get it, and of course, eventually stripped it to where I can't grip it at all.  So between the trips to the hardware store and my mangling of the screw, I've turned a 15 minute operation in to a multiple hour project. Haha.  No one else had an issue with that screw?  Was my mistake not using a P000?  My local hardware store doesn't even stock that size.  I feel a little embarrassed after watching a youtube video of a guy doing it in 2 seconds!  Doh

For now I just closed it back up and will live with the current card which seemed to have improved since installing the latests drivers.

Anyway, I have no idea what to do now.  I'll do some diligence on stripped screw removal, but in the meantime, does anyone have any advice on what I can try?  I tried a dab of krazy glue to add some grip but that didn't work (but I may have not let it set long enough).  I also don't want to try to file or dril the screw for obvious reasons.  Thanks!

EDIT: It's stripped almost clean, think I'm going to have to ask a professional to get it out with a dremel or something.

I used a POZI 00 to get mine out. Came with one of those electronics screwdriver kits they sell at Radioshack.

Not exactly sure what the difference between POZI and Phillips is, besides the fact that the POZI worked and the Phillips didn't.
