Re: Yoga 2 Pro WiFi Replacement Cards????

Sorry one more as no one sells this card in the UK and I'm having to buy from the US.

Does anyone know if there will be any volatage issues - hopefully no but just to check if anyone might know of a potential issue.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro WiFi Replacement Cards????

Hey guys I just got the intel 7260 from M-Factor. It works fine, but the speed increase is not what I though it would be :(

With the original card on 2.4 Ghz I got about 20Mbs

With the new card on 5Ghz I get about 25Mbs

With my Lenovo T530 on 5Ghz I get 60Mbs (the full bandwidth that comcast sells me)

Do I need to enable some power option for the wireless card? I have both laptops next to me and I am line of sight from my router. Any tips would be appriciated.

Thanks!

Make sure HT mode is set to "HT Mode" not disabled. You should get your full speed with that.

Thanks for the tip. It was set to VHT mode. I set it to HT mode and now mby get about 5Mbs more. This is still 30 Mbs less than what my 2 year old Lenovo T530 can do. Any other settings to mess with?

Follow this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-Z510-Wireless-Speed-Problem/td-p/1405511

It should apply to 7260AC as well. That driver version should fix your speed issue. However, some people report losing 5 GHz band at random times with that driver (I see this often on laptops with the 7260AC being installed on a non-Haswell motherboard/chipset). MY 7260N works perfectly though on both bands and I can achieve a speedtest.net result of 179 Mbps (300 Mbps link speed) at my university WiFi. BTW, I'm running 16.8.0.6 drivers (most stable without losing speed in my Lenovo Y470 laptop).

Wow those 16.5.3.6 drivers really did the trick! Previously I was on the 16.10 drivers (They released Feb 14 2014). Do you know what the diff is between these two driver versions?

I am now getting my full 60Mbs with my 7260-AC card on my 5Ghz N network! Thanks a ton!

Intel is still fiddling with their drivers. AFAIK, on some (mine included) laptops with 7260AC and Windows 7, 16.5.3.6 isn't stable. For Windows 7, it's 16.6.0.8 or 16.8.0.6 (I'm using this). For Windows 8.1, the fastest and the best driver is 16.5.3.6.

Just replaced the WiFi board in my Yoga 2 Pro.  Bought the card from MFactors.  Total installation took about 15 minutes.  WiFi speed went from 144 Mbps to 270 Mbps.  I didn't have to update any drivers.  $45 well spent.
