Yoga 2 Pro can't authenticate when mapping drive to NAS share

2013-12-18, 14:37 PM

I have a Qnap TS-219 NAS(Linux/Samba) which I have all my computers connected to as part of a Windows Workgroup. I have set up a share on the NAS with an ID/password.  My new y2p will not allow authentication to the share.  I can see the share in explorer and I can fully access the public share on the NAS which does not have an ID/password.  I have turned off the y2p's firewall and removed McAfee; turned on file and print in all the network sharing places.  This appears to be an authentication issue specific to the y2p Windows 8.1 build.  I can connect fine from a home built W8 PC, Win7, and XP.  Any help is appreciated.  -Dan

How did you save your credentials when you mapped the drive?  By clicking the "Remember Me" check box or entering them through the Control Panel with Windows Credential Manager (I think that's what it's called) ?  I've noticed on my Win8 machines that for some reason the check box value is not being saved and that entering them through the Credentials Manager is the ticket.

Through Explorer.  I've tried checking the "Remember me" and not checking the "Remember me" box.   And both ways do not work.  I've also tried NET USE from the command prompt.  I'm not an expert on that, so I'm not sure if I was using the correct syntax, but I received both Error 5 and Error 53.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try the Credentials Manager tonight.

I have wiped out the Lenovo build of Windows and loaded 8.1 Pro.  Still no luck, unfortunately.

That makes no sense.  Now I'm thinking the issue is wiith your NAS or perhaps a protocol issue.
