I have a Yoga 2 Pro for a couple of years but only recently have I tried to use the combo audio jack. I purchased an apropriate cable that has a headphone plug and a separate mic plug. I have connected my headphones and an audio source (playing music) to the splitter. I can somewhat ear what the mic captures but the quality is just terrible, sound is cranckling and distorted.

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try to download the Audio and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.
Also, try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.
(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Thank you for the idea.
I've tried it, uninstaled the sound drivers and reinstaled the ones available at the support page, along with the chipset ones.
Unfortunately no change. Still can't get it working.
Now, one thing strange happened. One of the times I inserted the spliter cable it wasn't detected by the computer and odd enough, te sound from the mic/input spliter cable was cristal clear. But the input was not available on the Windows mixer settings. I've unpluged the spliter and repluged it and was recognizes has having inserted a cable (also became available on the Windows mixer) but alas... the input sound became horrible again.
So it seems that it's not a hardware issue but something with the drivers. Once the cable insert was not detected the sound does come out ok (seems like its bypassing driver processing), but if the cable is detected the sound gets all distorted (maybe because there's some driver processing?).
I've tried changing every setting available: 16/24 bit, disabled all sound processing eiter in output and input, microphone boost, all levels, etc but still can't get this to work.
Could use some more help. Thank you.

I use a headset (headphone/mic) designed for cell phones (Nokia) directly connected on Yoga 2 Pro plug and works without problems. My Lenovo is running Windows 10 with drivers mentioned HERE
