Yoga 2 Pro display problem

I promise this isn't another complaint thread about the yellow! :smileywink:

 

Within the last week, my Y2P display has had a very strange defect appear in the bottom left corner...

Needless to say this appears to be a hardware issue. My machine is still under warranty by date and I would need to send it in for a repair.

 

My question is: I have upgraded the Intel WLAN to an AC version for better performance, as I was having issues with signal dropping out. Does that void my warranty such that I wouldn't be able to have the display repaired?

 

Thanks in advance for any insight.

 

EDIT: I should mention that this started as a very little bright spot down at the far end of the corner - pretty much where that checkmark shape is, with a bit of an oblong bright area around that checkmark. The bright area has been expanding slowly over the days since it first appeared.

Hate to do a kinda "bump" post, sorry, but this display issue has been getting worse...

Has anybody had experience with warranty repairs on a Y2P with a swapped wifi board? Or any Lenovo people that can provide an answer?

warranty conditions may change by country therefor it's better to call support line to get the better and correct answer about your warranty situation.

if yoga 2 has the same hardware as yoga first, you needed to remove the keyboard to install the wireless. therefor i don't think it'd be a problem or related to your screen problem but it's just my opinion.

Thanks for the help yigit.

As a follow up, I did go through the Lenovo support line to do a warranty repair.

For the record, Lenovo never gave me any grief about the WiFi card. I put the original card back in before sending the laptop out to them, but it didn't have the tamper sticker on it. As you said, it was unrelated to the issue so they likely disregarded it.

The laptop was only in the repair center for about 8 hours before I got a shipping notification. I'm very happy with how this was handled by Lenovo.

plama.jpgCould you please tell me what was the reason for the dispaly "stains" which you have been dealing with? I have the same problem, just in my case the Medion Service Company working for Lenovo, did not accept to repair it on the warranty and they want me to overtake the costs of 550 euros!!! They say it must have been in touch with water. It is a new laptop and I use it at work and I am 100% sure it has never been even close to anything fluid. I am soooo disappointed with Lenovo, and I feel so betrayed. I will for sure not leave it like this. Please let me know how did you deal with it?

Hi Community,

 

I have the same failure on my display, sadly to say it happend two months out of warrenty. I have requested Medion wich is the German service company for Lenovo for a repair in case of goodwill, but they did not agree. For my opinion this looks like a general failure for this kind of display. I am asking Lenovo for a statement here in this forum. This is really not a cheap notebook.

I am also asking other customers if they have the same issues with their Yoga 2 Pro here to reply.
