Ever since updating to Windows 10, my Yoga 2 Pro (model name 20266, Mfg Date 14/08/2014) is unable to connect to an external monitor. Tried a few TVs and a projector using the micro HDMI port. I've connected other computers to each of the monitors so I know they work. I understand how to use WIndows intimately (35 year old software engineer at Google, been using WIndows 20+ years), trust me, this is not a case of me forgetting to use Windows key + P or anything like that. The mirco HDMI port itself (physically) is fine and was working great until the day I downloaded Windows 10. So unless it happened to spontaneously stop working on the exact same day i upgraded to WIndows 10, it's not a hardware issue either.
The issue is that the external monitor is simply not detected, no matter my attempts to play with the display options.
I have also run the Intel driver update utilty, but it refuses to update the driver because it says it's detected manufacturer drivers and tells me I should get the manufacturer drivers. Ok, so I went to the Lenovo Yoga 2 support website, the latest driver they offer on that site is 10.18.15.4240. The driver update doesn'tmake a difference.
Now, if you go to Device Manager > Display Adapters > Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, right click and selected "Update driver software..." it will download an even newer version (10.18.15.4279). This doesn't work either. I've search all around the web and cannot find a solution. I'm debating installing ubuntu or something, I'm weary of Win10 already...
Any help you guys could offer me?
(For the record, I have already tried searching the forums and Google, to no avail)

I just got an update for Windows 10 so I'll see if that managed to fix anything, then I'll try updating the BIOS. I updated most of the other drivers already, although I wouldn't expect that to do much because for example the audio driver really shouldn't come into play here. I have a 2 week vacation that starts tonight so I'll have ot get back to this in early March.

It is a driver issue. You need to install the older monitor driver. Intel VGA Driver file is MonitorDrivers.exe File version 22.214.171.1240
I have to run this every morning when I turn my computer on because the compter reverts to the newer (i.e., bad) monitor driver all the time. Sometimes it reverts a couple of times a day. The install of the older driver takes about 60 seconds. Its annoying, but it beats not being able to use an external monitor.
I'm really surprised Lenovo hasn't come up for a fix for this.

What is MonitorDrivers.exe ?
The latest graphic driver for the Yoga 2 Pro is here, version 10.18.15.4240:
If you really want to get rid of a annoying driver installed on your PC, it's easy:
(It applies to Win 10, too)
