People cutting their HDMI cables to get their micro HDMI port to work is not really a solution - its a work around. The yoga HDMI connector has a design flaw. Lenovo should offer HDMI cables that work with their laptops or recall the product and come up with a resolution.

Now that I've used the Kanex HDMI cable a few times in presentations to customers, I'm now giving it up.  It's too loose in the micro-HDMI slot and any slight bump of the table will jar it loose.  So, I've now switched to a USB 3.0-to-HDMI cable, StarTech.com Slim USB 3.0 to HDMI External Video Card Multi Monitor Adapter (USB32HDES).  It's at Amazon for $59 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H91BQ7Y/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1).  Installation was cinch and it's rock solid!

Thank you again - I've been having this issue with multiple cables and I assumed (somewhat wrongly) that it was due to cable quality.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro micro-HDMi issue SOLVED

I'm having a strange problem with the mini HDMI port on my machine using a mini-HDMI-to-VGA adapter, and it's difficult to diagnose, because it's intermittent. On some projectors the machine works perfectly. On others, it sometimes blinks on and off at random intervals, as if there is a loose connection. The problem is unpredictable, and lasts for about 30 seconds each time, then the projector refreshes and all seems ok ... for a while.

I'm going to start a new thread, but I thought that I'd post here too, since I suppose that it could be something to do with this seating problem discussed here.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated!

Before investigating anything else I recommend to make sure that your connector is the required 6.1 mm in length and fix this as described above if possible. You didn't comment on that. The problem you describe is exactly what you get, if the connector is just long enough to get contact or perhaps not.

Thanks, Lennyech.

I don't think that the problem is with the particular adapter I'm using, since I use it twice a week with one projector setup with no problem, and have hit this problem now in two other places using the same adapter. I'll measure it to be sure that it's 6.1mm and will report back. But given that the only change in my use scenario is with the projector setup, then I have a feeling that the problem lies elsewhere.

Thanks, Andromidos. Could you tell a little more about what problem you had? Was it similar to the one I described? Also: Why would it be necessary to send a computer in for repair for a BIOS update? Couldn't that just be done on your own?
