Re: Yoga 2 Pro wakes up when lid is closed

2013-12-09, 19:21 PM

I have been forced to power down my computer every time I take it outside of my home now.   Pulling my computer out of my case to see it almost dead and hot as toast fresh out of the toaster is disconcerting.

Hey guys,

Check this article out.  It may help.

Edit:  Look at this on too.  The idea I were going to throw to you are listed in these two articles.

I took a look at both of those links. The three suggestions from the first one looked so promising, but all my settings already matched their proposed settings and my computer still wakes, even with the mouse receiver unplugged...

Other thoughts?

There's one more. Everything I can think of apparently you did already. I don't see why the computer keeps waking randomly. Hmm...

Edit: Do you happen to have the Media Center pack on your computer?

And did you do the "lastwake command" to see what was waking the computer? http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/122012-lastwake-command.html

There is also a slew of users who have the same problem with different computers.  It looks like it MAY be a windows bug...but then again, I haven't read an official statement saying its a bug.

Don't have the Media Center pack. I ended up kind of giving in and just using hibernate instead of sleep. At some point I'll probably go exchange this for another one and see if my issue is resolved. My friend has the same computer and it doesn't have this issue, so I'm thinking it may actually be a hardware problem.

Yoga 2 Pro overheating during sleeping

2013-12-13, 16:37 PM

Hi all,

I want to know why my yoga2pro is always very hot even if the laptop is in sleeping mode. Everytime I took it from my bag, it is incrediable heated. Is there something wrong with my sleeping mode?

Thanks for your attention!

If you are putting it into a bag just turn it off. Boots in seconds anyway.

Yes that is a solution.

It is just weird that everytime you took it from the bag, it is very hot. After you used it for a while, it cooled down.

Not really weird.  Just because the machine is asleep does not mean it is doing nothing.  Always the possibility the CPU could run in your cramped non-ventilated backpack (or whatever you carry it in) and get super hot.

Yup, just turn it off.  Better solution all around.

I think a good choice would be to use hibernate instead of sleep. I'm not sure if Win 8/8.1 has that.
