Re: Yoga 2 Pro wakes up when lid is closed

2014-04-02, 18:23 PM

HISTORY:
Very often as i have closed the lid, and put it in my backpack, to take it from places.

When i then pick it up again it is VERY HOT, just as if it has been been ON since i closed the lid on it.

(eats some battery but hard to calculate..)

TODAY! I listened to (LOCAL/from the harddrive/SSD) music when shut the lid at the train.

Just when i entered my appartment i could hear the music started to play AGAIN!

My laptop were in my backpack in my "saftypocket" and had not been touched since i was at the train!

HOW COULD THIS BE?

When is my computer starting up by it self?
And Why did it continue the music?

A part guess is WIFI.

But i wouldn't say it is only that! but this was a perfect proof for me to know that it can AUTOSTART AND EAT MY BATTERY!

There has to be a bigger reason then just the wifi!

(WIFI isn't the root of evil :P hehe just a joke, it's more of a top of a glacier?)

HELP!

OR have i done something wrong in my settings and such?

And i dont want an explanation about FLIGHT MODE, as i use it a lot when i remember to do it!

Sincerely

Patrik

PS

I had "Stable mode" on.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro wakes up when lid is closed

Hey.

Bought myself a yoga 2 pro just before christmas. Im having this problem where the PC turns itself on in my backpack.

Its a rather stiff samsonite pc backpack, but it still flexes just enough for the lid to press some buttons on the keyboard and turn the pc back on from sleep cooking it and draining the battery.

The keyboard automatically disables when in stand or tablet mode, but is there something I can do to turn it off while the lid is closed aswell?

If anyone else can try to press on the lid directly over where the keyboard is in the middle, when its closed, and see if that wakes the pc up. Im pretty sure its the reason for most people in this thread.

I tested this on my Yoga 2 Pro, it did not start. Are you sure it's starting when the lid is closed if you put pressure to the lid?

I didn't put too much pressure. But if this the reason it is turning on in your back-pack you should treat it better, because one day you will have a cracked screen.

Kind regards,

The keyboard still is active when the lid is closed, and the screen is resting directly upon the keyboard, if you press in the right spot, its not much of a pressure you need to apply to make it press the keyboard. And it will certainly not crack from that pressure.

Also, my backpack is one of those stiff types with memory foam inside, im not sure if you can get anything better.

Edit: When trying to apply pressure, use the palm of your hand and not one finger, which would simulate a little pressure from your back in a backpack. Its more efficient making pressing the keyboard and "less harmfull" than doing the same while pressing on a small point.

I just tried the keyboard thing, and what do you know, my laptop turned on! So basically, the wake-from-sleep while in backpack is due to pressure on the keyboard, activating a key and thus the laptop.

Similar to how the keyboard is disabled in tablet mode, the keyboard should be disabled when the lid is closed.  Seriously Lenovo, something this basic is not hard to do -.-.

Anyhow guys, to add to this convo:

Just make a script to fix the problem.

Detect lid state: http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/92888-lidwatcher-monitor-the-state-of-your-laptop-lid/

Key the above lid state with this hook: http://thedecoderwheel.com/2011/03/12/disable-mouse-and-keyboard-during-deployment-success/

Place the file on your startup menu and there you go.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem as mine, or not.  I haven't noticed what you are describing.  But what happens to me is that mine gets screen or touchpad input while the lid is closed.  If you're looking at a second screen you will see the mouse moving around, opening and closing things.  It's pretty freaky actually.  So far what I have resorted to is keeping a piece of paper inside the computer whenever it is closed.  Kind of a pain!

I can't believe the screen and touchpad aren't disabled when the lid is closed.  Haven't found a setting like this.  Lenovo support seems to have no clue, even though there are many other reports on this forum.  I've been hoping for a BIOS and/or power management update, but so far nothing.

Is there a way to cut down the hibernation to 60 minutes? Thanks.
