Yoga 2 Pro with fullHD display?

2013-11-15, 11:18 AM

I checked official "Yoga 2 Pro - Hardware maintenance manual" from Lenovo support and there are two types of display with diferent rosolutions. First is 3200x1800 (actual) and second is 1920 x 1080. I attach a screenshot.

And for comparing screenshot from Yoga 13 manual. There is only 1600x900 resolution. It is the current and the only.

Does it means that maybe Yoga 2 Pro will come with fullHD display?

while they may offer a 1080p screen in the future to cut costs, it seems to line up more with the thinkpad screen than anything else

and while the yellow issues is annoying, i'm getting used to it rather quickly and can't stop smiling when i see 4k video on this bad boy

4k video is so laggy because it doesn't have dedicated graphics....

intel video card in the Haswell machine is fully 4K video compatible. So the laggy issues maybe due to codec, or that you have set the power mode on power saver or something.

What's troubling me is not the fact that they will make 1080p display but the fact that they will make a 1080p display without touch features.

Yoga 2 Pro without touch? Then what's the point?

Well, it would be a very nice laptop, but rather useless as a tablet :)

I suspect the 3200x1800 display may be cheaper than a traditional 1920x1080 display, so I don't know that it would be cost less than the curent model. It would be a nice option for those still bothered by the behavior of the RGBW display technology.

I'm guessing they engineered it to support all these options, but marketing just hasn't chosen to offer them. If you were a big customer you might be able to get them to build you some with an alternate display. If you wanted a few hundered of them.
