Yoga 2 pro system failure

Hi!

My yoga suddenly got some serious issues.

After 2 or 3 minutes of use the system suddenly crashes at once and I get that blue screen with an error message. After that it gets into a boot loop - the system tries to load up and gets back to the blue screen with the error message.

If I shut down the computer for 10 minutes I can turn it on and the system load well. But again - after 2 or 3 minutes of use it crashes again.

Please help me. I have no idea what's the problem with the laptop.

Maybe it has something with hitting?

Re: Yoga 2 pro system failure

Hi there, Roee –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Did you check in safe mode?

Can you upload the BSOD dump file for further analysis (eg. via Dropbox).

Also, when you get the "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" error, did you get any specific message on what the BSOD error message is about?

Sample BSOD error

Update us how it goes.

"Did you check in safe mode?"

Yes. I tried to boot into safe mode but it gets the same issues again. No matter what I do (except putting the computer on the air conditioner) the system is crushing after several minutes of use.

"Can you upload the BSOD dump file for further analysis (eg. via Dropbox)"

I'll try. But its nearly impossible to make it without the system will crush.

"Also, when you get the "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" error, did you get any specific message on what the BSOD error message is about"

The message of what the BSOD error is about is changing all the time. Every time it's crush the message is different.

One last thing, I think the problem have something to do with the heating of the processor. As I said, if I put the computer on a very cold surface it is not crush at all.

Thanks for the answer.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Roee.

Re: Yoga 2 pro system failure

So here the problem lies. May be thermal paste between the CPU and the heatsink likely isn't transferring heat properly. Fixing this will require disassembling your laptop and applying new thermal paste. I recommend Arctic Silver 5 or Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste.

Please go through this HMM for hardware assistance. Also, if you have to go any deeper then you would be voiding the warranty. I would recommend you to contact Lenovo service center and report your findings.

Update us how it goes.
