Yoga 3 14 7mm SSD

2015-08-05, 20:34 PM

Hello,

is it possible to put a 7mm high SSD instead of the 5mm drive inside yoga 3 14? I read that it might be possible but I'm, still sceptical...

Does somebody have experience about this, or some photos of how it looks? It's because i can't manage to find any 5mm SSDs on the market.

Thanks.

i have asked this and found a goodly number of posts that it can be done succesfully.  I think part of the confusion is that the threads don't always articulate whether or not a proper 'sled' is used.  it looks like if one goes totally naked it will work ok with no bulging of the case.

also I am told there are some samsung [and other??] models that are actually between 6-7mm thick and not too rare.

I have an older hitachi mechanical drive that is like that - not really 7mm but thinner by a little.

i will be trying this soon
