Re: Yoga 3 14 inch Touch Screen Issues

2015-07-04, 23:00 PM

I had many issues till I came across the post Mat put in forum . I did download the device and I have no jumping cursor and closing and opening things so far  and my touch screen now works as well!!! so I thought I copy and paste Mat comment and hope you find it helpful as I did. Apparently we need to get suppost for Lenovo Yopga 3 14" from the page Yoga 3-1470 . lots of devices to download for issues. below is what mat posted:

"I found it interesting that the product name on the back of the machine was "Yoga 3 14" and not "Yoga 3 1470". Also, entering the MTM number from the back, directed me to a thinkpad support page.

Anyhow, on the link above the suport guy directed me select 'mouse nd keypad' from the components dropdown and then download and install the touchpad driver for win 8.1 http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-3-1470/downloads/DS10... "

Welcome beezee -- sorry to hear you're another owner with the same issue.  I hope the driver fix helps.

In the meantime, I was about to recommend that you can click on the "Options" link in the upper right corner of your post in order to edit it, but...I seem to be losing my mind...I checked my own messages and the Edit option is gone.  Strange.  In any case, the next best strategy is to click on the "Preview" tab at the top of the editing text box while you're working on a message, to avoid the hassle of reposting when you spot something you need to change!  Or maybe I've misread your intentions, and you're trying to get your post count up quickly.  :smileywink:

EDIT:  AHHHHH, I see, the "Edit Reply" option is there for my current post...I suppose on Lenovo's forum it's only good for a limited time after you post.  Interesting, never noticed that before.

-Matt

Re: Yoga 3 14 inch Touch Screen Issues

Just updated the BIOS to the latest 36WW (6/26/2015) and the touchpad driver and SUPRISE SURPRISE, I was awarded the pleasure of witnessing first hand my for 2 blue screens of death (on windows 8) and about 5 minutes.

After the BIOS update I went to restore the Virtualization support, since I use vmware player quite a bit. I was running one (the same) virtual machine when both BSOD happened. Haven't gotten ghost issue anymore but for me this crash is a much BIGGER ISSUE.

This is not good Lenovo, not good. Amy if you do read this, please pass it along to the Eng tier.

I do like my laptop but all this is beyond acceptable. I am waiting for a overly due fix please.

The BIOS update and the touchpad update doesn't do anything. I've updated myself and still get the ghost touches.

According to Amy, there's supposed to be a BIOS update later this month that will offer "Improved Performance", whatever that means. Note that it's not "A fix for the ghost touches", so it's rather ambiguous.

So we now have some people having their panels replaced. One person who had both the panel and motherboard replaces. A BIOS update that's coming towards the end of July that may or may not do anything.

It seems like we are just running around in circles, which is quite predictable. I'm not surprised by any of this. This is very typical.

Eventually, they will come up with something. Hopefully the wait isn't that long. I'm not counting on it though.

Turned the touch panel device driver off. Now it's just a regular laptop. Guess what. I would have bought a regular laptop if I wanted one! SMH...

That's what I would like to know as well.... I am probably going to jinx myself by saying this but I didn't have this problem yet and it's been about one month since I bought mine. Reading all those people's stories about having the problem right away from day 1 makes me fear when mine will start doing it. :smileysad:

Mine is a German model if anyone is interested.

Mine started to exhibit ghost touches a few months after purchase.

This thread is specifically for the Yoga 3 14". I would suggest we keep it that way to avoid confusion.

It's not entirely clear weather this is a global problem or just local to the U.S. I assume everyone may potentially be affected.

Mine started a few days after purchase and Lenovo replaced the machine. It's been a couple of days with no problems with the new machine.
