Re: Yoga 3 14 inch Touch Screen Issues

The Fn key issue bugged me so much I dug some more and found out you can change the default Fn behavior in the Bios settings. As per this post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Yoga-Flex-Laptops-and/Yoga-2-Pro-Is-there-a-way-to-activate-the-Fn-lock-key/ta-p/1443463 It's a pity there are no moderators here or any kind of Lenovo support and users are left to their own devices, (yeah, literally). Would have been a simple matter to point out that it's very easy to fix this issue. Anyway, I finally have my Esc key back instead of activating reading mode again and again.

francoeur500, can you confirm that the machine under discussion here, the Yoga 3 14, also has the same BIOS setting?

Thanks!

Great, thank you!

Just checking. The subject of the article you linked to is the Yoga 2 Pro.

Well I figured out the FN key mode and it was easier than expected. There is an app on my computer called "Lenovo Settings" and in there I could change the hotkey settings.

As far as the touch screen issues I am on hold with Technical support right now. I really hope they dont tell me I need to send the computer in because im a student and I really cant go more than 2 days without my laptop for school

So I just got off the phone, and here is the verdict.

My computer doesnt recognize that my screen is a touch screen so thats why its not working. We tried everything over the phone that we could short of reverting the computer to factory settings (which wipes all files)

The problem with this, is that none of my USB ports work either. So I have no way to get all my files off my computer.

Looks like im S.O.L.

Glad you found another way to switch Fn Lock.

If USB is not working, use WiFi to get your files off the computer.

Yeah sounds like you need a new machine. Probably faulty motherboard h/w or firmware issue. I guess tech support tried playing around with Device Manager and reinstalling drivers? After you get all your data out I would do a factory reset just to make sure.

The Lenovo Settings didn't stick for me, it would revert back every time after reboot.

To get to the Bios go to Charms - Settings - Change PC Settings - Recovery - Advanced Startup - Restart Now. You will then see Troubleshoot - Advanced options, and then UEFI Firmware Settings. That gets you to the Bios.

I got into Bios and fixed the hotkey issue, thanks for that.

Now atm im working on backing up all my files on the oneDrive cloud service, but I have one concern before I restore my computer to factory settings. When I do a restore, will it permenantly get rid of my Microsoft Office? I spent $130 for the Home & Student version and I cant really afford to buy it again...
