Re: Yoga 3 14 inch Touch Screen Issues

I bought Lenovo Yoga 3 Laptop just a month ago for my daughter and the screen got a crack. When I try to get a support, I am told it is going to be $750 to repair it. I can't get the screen as part either to replace it my self. I should have stayed with Dell and HP. I learned my lessons. Please stay away from Lenovo. It is not IBM anymore, it is Lenovo and all you get is a very bad support.

I spoke with support yesterday and was able to get access to the firmware update.  I will provide a link to the page, but make sure that you go through the steps of checking to make sure that you have the correct system for the firmware update, otherwise you'll be wasting your time because it will only update for this specific screen.  So far the issue has not recurred for me.  I am very excited to be able to use my touchscreen again!

thanks a lot for the information, it worked perfectly.  I was getting afraid that the issue was due to a hardware malfunction.  What a relief!  Loving my Yoga 3.

Hi Amy,

Thanks a lot for the effort on this issue, I also purchased the same computer a couple of weeks ago with the same issues.

Unfortunately, I could not download the proposed solution as none of the links are working for me (redirect loop error).

Would you please point me to a page where I can download the fix ?

Thanks,

Axel

Edit: Manage to download from the laptop directly. Just upgraded the firmware and will keep everybody updated on the ghost/USB/etc issues.

As noted earlier, a firmware fix for the auto-touch symptoms seen on Yoga 3 14 touchscreen panels has been released.

It can be downloaded here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103512

For more information on how to implement this solution, please read this document: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/SF15-I0024

I've noted some of the feedback posted yesterday, and I'd appreciate it if more people could share their results.

Thank you,

So glad to see this, just spend an hour on the phone with Lenovo hardware support, who ultimately decided my "ghost touch" problem was not a hardware problem and transferred me to software. After listening to my problem the software technician told me that i either had a virus or a software problem and in order to diagnose my issue and fix it, I would have to pay either $200 for a year of software support or $100 for one time support. Very happy that this forum has saved me the money I was about to spend, but don't know why I wasn't told how to fix it right away since "ghost touch" seems to be a common issue with the Yoga 13 1470.

Re: Yoga 3 14 inch Touch Screen Issues

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 on august, and it has the LG panel. I have been suffering the ghost touch and the scroll problem since the very beginning, not knowing what to do, but i used the laptop very little, so a quick restart would usually do the job for the use i was giving to the laptop. This last week i have started using it more, so the problem is becoming really annoying. I didn't enter this forum until today, but prior to now what i did was updating the Intel HD5500 driver. It only made things worse. Brightness went down (even at its maximum level), and what is worse, since that moment the touch screen is no longer working. I then found this thread and downloaded the so called solution, but once I download and execute the FW update program, it just does not run, and after 4 attemps it just shuts down and my FW is not updated, and the problem keeps annoying me.

The first screen when running the program disappears when the barr reaches the point it says:

UpdateFWEdidApp(x64)_20150817

I can't post images due to the same problem user uga has, i have posted a comment in the appropiate thread.

Then, when it starts running the cmd program, it just tries the 4 times i mentioned above and asks me to press a key to shut down without having updated anything.

Hi Amy,

I have the same problem as the others here. I have an LGD0360 touch screen but when I run the firmware update it gives me the error message "Your Yoga 3_14 LCD touch panel is not at risk and does not require this download."

Do you know why the update won't work on my computer or how I can get around it?

Cheers,

Dave

Re: Yoga 3 14 inch Touch Screen Issues

I bought the Yoga 3 14 with the LG screen and the firmware update seems to have fixed it (fingers crossed) but what really bothers me is why is this not on Lenovo's support page with the other downloads?  If the website can identify my model number and even serial number, it should at least be able to lead me to this critical update.  Lucky my Google search found this thread.

I will be very hesitant to buy Lenovo again after reading this thread and with my experience in fixing the problem so far.

Cheers
