Re: Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

I have had my Yoga 3 pro for two years and have had no problems until last night. The battery will not charge at all. I have tried solutions from the various forum members (battery conservation, system bios update....) and nothing works. I have 0% battery available, but the icon says it is charging. The little animated icon shows (for a minute) that the battery is filling up, but it is not. Everything I have checked shows there is no problem with the battery, but it will not charge. Everything worked yesterday afternoon, but by late evening, the computer was dead (unless it is plugged in). The cord has absolutely no damage.

Re: Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

Seems you did not really read all the posts...
Read my post from above:

"Since this was I brand new (2 weeks) laptop, I have sent it on friday to the official Lenovo guarantee service provider in Bulgaria (Viewpoint Ltd.) and on wednessday I got it back fixed!
According to the documents they have changed my AC adapter + the AC cable"

Simply get a new charger.

Re: Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

I had the same problem before. My Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 can not charge the baterry.

It stuck on 5%. I tried update the BIOS firmware, but the update failed.

The problem solved after i update my Intel Chipset Driver.

You can download the file from lenovo website.

The file name is "Intel Driver Update Utility Installer.exe"

After update restart the laptop and set power mode on "Conservation mode".

Hope you can solve the problem,

Regards

Andi

Re: Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

Hi, I hava a Lenovo Yoga 3 laptop which has the same 0% charging problem. I download the utility as you said

You can download the file from lenovo website.

The file name is "Intel Driver Update Utility Installer.exe"

When I  ran it it only suggested updating graphics driver.

I tried to manually search for the update my Intel Chipset Driver but could not find it.

Does anyone know how to find it in the Intel tool.

Thanks Keith

Re: Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

My yoga 3 pro battery will only charge to 5%. When I look at the power status it says my battery is in good condition, charging, and has a cycle count of 118.

Do I need to replace my battery in order for it to charge completely?

I cannot seem to find MarinM's post.  Seems it worked for several of you.  Could someone point me to it?

Thx

It was the charger Re: Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

My charger was bad.

I went through all the pages here (thanks for the info!) and applied the BIOS, Power Management, and OneKey Optimizer fixes without resolving the issue.

Then I opened the laptop, put a new battery, checked internal connections, and the battery still wouldn't charge.

Before breaking the laptop into a million pieces, I decided to spend $23 in a new charger and cable bought in Amazon as a last resort.

That was it! The battery started charging as soon as I plugged in the new charger.

My advice is that if you end up at the end and have applied the free fixes (software and hardware checks), then give it one last shot by buying a new charger and cable.

BTW, I plugged a phone cable into my old charger and it would charge, but that's a different voltage, so that's not a good way to test the charger.  The pins in the cable and charger for the higher voltage required by the laptop may be damaged instead of what's used for lower voltage devices.
