Re: Yoga 3 Pro lmcfrundll.exe Run Problem, how to fix?

2015-02-14, 20:48 PM

As suggested in an early thread, I too disabled the three LMCF entries in the startup area of task manager to stop the errors at startup.  This stopped the errors and restored my touch screen functionality as well as my ability to project my monitor to my TV in the conference room.  I hope Lenovo gets the fix out soon or at least recommends that we down grade to the previous version while we wait for the fix to be tested.

I have no problem being patient while Lenovo fixes the bug. My biggest complaint is the lack of updates or suggestions from Lenovo on this issue. They clearly should be more active and give an official recommendation about backing out to a previous version or blessing the steps above or some other recommendation while we wait for them to test and post a fix.

I am getting the lmcfrundll.exe error message everytime I open the desktop and go to shut down.  I'm hoping you can soon provide a fix for this.  Other than this very annoying message I am delighted with my Yoga 3 Pro.

Hi creekside,

Please read this entire topic. It appears that there may have been a problem with a recent software update. I have no other details. That seems to happen with all software at one time or another. I've seen it with software by Microsoft, Dell, anti-virus/anti-malware brands, and others. I'm glad that Lenovo is working on a fix for this one. :smileyhappy:

Hi, as I noted in my earlier post a few days ago... my 3 week old Y3P had this software glitch... but it also stopped charging the battery at the same time... it is only 4% charged, and while it says plugged in and charging, it does not.... Is this related to the software problem?

If the charging is NOT related to the software problem, my retailer said they will swap mine for a brand new one.

Please let me know as soon as possible, as I will not be able to return it for very long.

Phil

I had the same charging problem when I bought my YP3 in November, so it is
unrelated to the latest update, unfortunately. But it is a fault with the
computer so you should be able to take that up with Lenovo. Good luck!

The workaround was to uninstall the Lenovo Dependency Package, right? I tried, and it didn't work for me.

My problem is that I don't understand all of this computer speak. I can uninstall something, but I can't search around and try to find it again or do some restore-thing or -- ??? Does that mean delete everything? How does it work?

Everything else works, I guess, just those 3 messages at every startup. But I don't know if uninstalling that package messed me up more, too. I appreciate the message about trying to find it again on the D-drive, and I did a search, but it isn't there anymore, so uninstalling it must have removed it completely--? I just don't know, and I don't even know if it matters.

Back to Best Buy?

Hi everyone,

Having been part of testing teams for various types of software, I'm not sure Lenovo can answer the question of exactly when the fix will be available to the public. In my experience, a fix is ready after it has been tested, any needed revisions are made, and it is retested. It was mentioned earlier in this topic that they are working on it.

KirseK, the instructions were to uninstall "Lenovo Settings Dependency Package". Try that one.

Hello all,
as a temporary workaround to get rid of the start up errors.
You can uninstall Lenovo Settings Dependency Package.

Go to Control Panel -- Programs and Features --- There you ll find the program to uninstall:

 "Lenovo Settings Dependency Package"

The computer will start normally without errors then.

As Mark said, a fix is under developement.

Best
Andreas
