Yoga 3 pro 1370 Boot Device Missing Or Boot Failed

2018-01-31, 10:07 AM

Hi everyone, since two months I have the issue with my boot device. It looks like my laptop suddenly hangs up, afterward, it is shown shortly a screen "It is a problem ;(", my PC restarts and I get the caption "default boot device missing or failed". If I go to BIAS/Boot menu I see my boot device (Samsung....) and boot manager as well there.

I already have used the Lenovo Solution Center for hardware scan, but no hardware problem was found. I have also reinstalled my Windows twice. This laptop is still under warranty and I have already sent in Lenovo service center because of this problem, but that brought nothing; I have got it back and after few weeks still have this problem. Do you have some ideas what could I do else?

Hi maevska,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would suggest having this reported to technical support again for more intensive testing.

This may be a random event but while you still have the warranty and have re-installed Windows several times then adequate stress test and monitoring should be performed not only on the harddrive but the board and cable connection as well.

You can try updating the BIOS and Intel rapid storage driver (storage) from the website to check if that can correct the issue.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

I have updated bios and reinstalled drivers. It does not help. Only a total reformat and reinstall solves the problem for some months. I suspect that it is a low low level SSD disk problem that does not show up on disk test.

Hi glundby,

Greetings.

If we can test it with another known good drive then perhaps we can isolate the drive failure.

Regards
