Yoga 3 pro blue screen

Hello,

my yoga 3 pro recently started to blue screen while using it. Simply surfing the internet makes this happen roughly 10 to 15 minutes once using it. This has been going on for about a week now. I've gotten 2 different stop codes on the blue screen.

1 - "Stop code: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION"

2- "Stop code: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

This only happens when charging and using at the same time.

Looking for any information on this issue because it's a pain when trying to do work and the computer just crashes.

Thank you in advanced for the help!

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

Hi there, Payso  -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

The KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED is a type of STOP error, also known as Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) that occurs on Windows based operating systems, and can cause them to restart or shut down abruptly. This bug check contains a value of 0x0000001E. This STOP error points out that error handler is unable to catch the exception generated by a Kernel-mode program.

When you have a moment, can you please refer to this that was filed regarding a similar issue and let me know if it is relevant to the problem you are seeing?

Update us how it goes.

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

Neither of those fixed it.

I installed windows 8.1 pro and there was no issue with blue screens or the charger.

I installed windows 10 64 bit after testing windows 8.1 and it blue screens with the charger still.

All scans come back with no issues.

Update***

It is now crashing while using without the charger 2 new stop errors

however, i was able to use it a little while before it began to crash without it being connected to the charger. Im not sure if this is a hardware issue or an issue with windows 10.

What failed: FLTMGR.SYS

Stop code: VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL

Thank you!

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

There was Microsoft Update KB3022345 lately that makes a SFC scan false error message. You can filter useable information from the SFC log by command: findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > sfcinfo.txt

Yes, try to disable the LTE module for a while, if possible. I understand it is not acceptable permanent solution but you can check whether there is a difference.

You can also try to stop the virtual wifi adapter if you don't need it.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

Just a quick update. Everything seemed to be going well for a few days. Until today, while working on the computer it blue screened 2 times with two different errors

1 - what failed: dxgmms2.sys

2- what failed: cl.dll

It booted to recovery and I chose to just restart. For now it seems to be ok but im sure it will blue screen again.

Also this winodws update fails everytime I try to install it and i tried to install it as a stand alone update from Microsoft as well :

      Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4013418) - Error 0x80070057

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

Happens to me to. Started after latest updates before Creators. Im now on creators update and are still getting Blue screens, both when charging and not. Either "Critical process died" or sometimes "Store ..." sometimes. Often not able to go through with dump and reboot.

Have raised this with service senter and gotten RMA, but I'm still hessitant. All HW tests go through fine. Now running in Android Remix OS on my Yoga3 Pro, and I cannot see the problem. The Remix OS runns withouth any special drivers for Yoga 3 Pro like 2in1 management and such.

Since I did not see this problem earlier I have a feeling the Win10 creators update may have broken some of the many Yoga drivers, and that this is a SW problem after all...

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

Just another update.

After doing some testing, I booted into safe mode with networking, there are no issues when in safe mode the computer doesn`t crash at all, I left it sit over night and the next day it was right how i left it. I booted regular and uninstalled the graphics driver, because i read a previous post on the forums that the driver that got installed was the issue. However, that didn`t fix it. I`m not sure what other drivers to try uninstalling to fix this issue.

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

I'm getting desperate, trying everything. I have now installed latest Ubuntu 17.04 and this seems to work quite stable. This seems to prove that we are seeing a SW problem. Either the drivers from Lenovo or the drivers from windows are making this Bluescreens.

The Ubuntu distribution works flawlessly because it does NOT have any special drivers for the 2in1 functionallity. Appart from that, it supports touch screen, WAN, sound, bluetooth and so on.

I suspect the Lenovo provided HW and drivers does not work well with the latest incarnation of Windows. Hope this is fixed soon, otherwise I will make a warranty case of this.

Re: Yoga 3 pro blue screen

I have now isolated the problem to the Disk Subsystem. Its failing more and more. Sometimes when rebooting I cannot see the disk, sometimes it may be there and work for a little time. I have created new partitions and run Ubuntu on them. For a day I can run, but gradually the disk gets corrupted and in the end the machine looses the disk. This proves that the Win10 drivers are not to blame.

To prove that it is the Disk Subsystem thats failing, Im now running Ubuntu installed on a 32GB USB3 stick. Everything functions without a glitch!

I'm on warranty, so now I just have to get the disk replaced. Question is, is the disk delivered as standard of low quality? The machine is les than a year.
