Yoga 300 11iby upgrade to ssd

I have a Yoga 300 11iby.

I would like to speed it up by replacing the HDD with an SDD, I've successfully accomplished the same operation with Dell mini towers and Sony laptops. I plan to use a Crucial 250GB drive.

I have 2 questions

1) has anybody accomplished this or know of any reason it shouldn't work.

2) Although I've removed the scews from the base I've not managed to remove the base. I don't want to force anything, so has anybody any idess.

Regards,

Mark.

Re: Yoga 300 11iby upgrade to ssd

Good day and welcome to the community.

Looking at pg34 of the hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_yoga_300_hmm_201510.pdf

did you get all ten screws?

Regards.

Re: Yoga 300 11iby upgrade to ssd

I have finally managed to remove the back. After removing the screws it is just a case if very gently easing the base off starting in one place and working your way round.

Re: Yoga 300 11iby upgrade to ssd

Hello Galdanaboy,

Could you tell us what is the state of your SSD update project? I'm interested in also, because 32GB seems to to be few for WIN 10 upgrade. I tried to use external drive also, but I always rceived something similar message: "WIN 10 require additonal 10GB free space on C: drive".

Which kind of SSD did you order?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Regards,

Zoli

Re: Yoga 300 11iby upgrade to ssd

Hola Zoli, everything is on hold with this gimmik and I think, I will litter it soon. Why??? First: the 32GB are not enough to do any update and of course no Upgrade to Win-10. Second: the German "support" is an outrage. Since about 1 month I try to get answers to the possibility to upgrade with a SSD. All their "helpfull" answer is: if you do any hardware-change, you will loose the warranty. No info about Yes, is possible with XXX-drive and you must by the Cable YYY which you can buy at ZZZ or No, this is not possible. For the rest of my life I know one thing: NO MORE LENOVO! Sorry for NOT beeing helpfull for your questions

Hi guys,

I too am adding an SSD onto my Yoga300 11BY, but cannot find anywhere the exact part/part number/ place to buy the SSD to SATA_COMM1 cable.

Very frustrating.

I would be so grateful if anyone could help ?

Many thanks in advance,
