Yoga 500 14ISK

Hello, i just recently bought Yoga 500 14ISK with windows 10. However the screen occasionally and randomly goes black during work and the only solution is to switch it off with power button and switch it on again. When in black screen, computer still works (fans, music, etc.) I tried to close the laptop to put it into a sleep mode and open it again-screen works but after entering my password it goes black again in a second.
I was able to solve all the other issues(high CPU, RAM and disku usage) but this one is killing me. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hey there.

I just got a Yoga 500-14ISK too and I ran into a thread (here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/FLex-3-Video-card-Mathematical-Operations-Test-failed/td-p/2194294) where guys were having similar issues, as well as the Lenovo Companion app detecting hardware errors. I don't have black screen issues but it does tell m I have an Intel HD 520 hardware problem.

What they suggested is that the laptop is "too new" for the drivers and Lenovo has acknowledged the issues. (see here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht105222) Some people fixed the black screen problem by manually installing these drivers:

Thanks for your answer, i will download and install those drivers. Hope it will work :) Anyway what kind of Intel HD 520 hardware problems do you have? Just curious as i also have some issues regarding Intel HD 520 driver (stopping responding and recovering) resulting into screen blinking from time to time and Lenovo companion detecting Mathematical operations test failure.

Just to let you know, I've tried those drivers and installed them manually (via device manager, using the ZIP files on that link I posted before) and it solved my "Mathematical operation failure" errors. I'm sure it'll help for you!

I had the same problem, right after I did a windows update,it seems the windows override the driver for the 520 graphic display adapter, just install the correct driver and make sure to disable windows automatic driver installation from  (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System) select advance system settings, then hardware, then select device installation settigs then select NO.

Make sure the driver you install for the display adapter is version (10.18.15.4279)

In response to customer reports of displays or screens turning off on Lenovo systems while in use and running on battery power, Lenovo has released a solution via update to the Intel Management Engine Firmware, v.11.0.0.1176.

 

The Intel ME Firmware has been approved for the following models:

  • ideapad 300S-14ISK, ideapad 500S-14ISK
  • Lenovo Edge 2-1580
  • Lenovo Flex 3-1480, Flex 3-1580,
  • Yoga 500-14ISK, Yoga 500-15ISK

 

The Intel ME Firmware can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105001

 

If the solution provided by Lenovo does not resolve the issue for you, other customers report that a workaround provided by customer MattDN93 also resolves the issue.
