Yoga 500 - Charging issue

Hello,

 

I have a Yoga 500 that is having a problem charging the battery.  

 

When it's plugged into the charger, it cycles between charging and not charging about every second.  I've tried two different chargers and it does the exact same thing.  It's like a loose connection type of symptom.

 

Any ideas on what to try?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Wisedave !

 

If you haven't done so already try re-installing the Power Management Driver.  I assume you have Windows 10 installed so there is a download link to that driver.....

If that doesn't resolve the problem then I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for additional warranty assistance.

Welcome to Lenovo Community

 

here a small tip we can try, If you have power manager or power management programe please uninstall it from your device , Turn OFf your Device, remove the charger ( if the battery is removable not built in so please remove it also ), Press & hold the power button for 15 seconds, then plug the charger one more time, turn on your device & try now. if the issue remains so please reply me here.

I tried as you said above and that did not work.

I know this is an old thread but for anyone else perhaps looking at this issue, I had the same, and the Lenovo Service Centre confirmed a faulty mainboard which has to be replaced under warranty. Hope this helps.

Hi,

 

I have problem on my Yoga 500 14ISK, not charging battery already drained, before when still up its frequently connected and disconnected status charging status and suddenly totally dead not detecting my charger adaptor, i guess theres only a problem on that adaptor but i buy a replacement one still not charging. I read some forum sites there's MAINBOARD issue on this unit and only to solve it to replace motherboard, sadly my warranty is due already. Anyone can help me where to buy same mainboard on this unit? thanks.

Very dissapointed with Lenovo.

 

6 months after my  Y500 14-ISK warranty expires and I get this issue, first a new charging port is purchased, then a new original battery was purchased and replaced. 

 

Turns out it was neither the port or the battery and after further investigation it seems there are number of users having motherboard issues with this (and other) models.

 

Laptop works connected to charger with battery unplugged but its safe to say thats not why I purchased it. Also safe to say I will neither be purchasing not recommending Lenovo to anyone anymore.
