Re: Yoga 530-14IKB TOUCH SCREEN DOESNT WORK AFTER UPDATES

So far it seems to work well. I used the laptop all day yesterday for studying and turned it off before sleeping. Today the touchscreen is still working and doesn't seem to have any issues after waking up from sleep.

In event manager does it say the driver was installed successfully and that the device was started?

Yes, it says everything is fine but still no reaction on fingers. HID Touch Screen events are also saying it was started fine. I've tried so many things already that I don't know what to try next.

I've taken a full backup yesterday and reinstalled Windows with full wipe using Lenovo repair USB tool, but it has the same issue, the same windows version and driver versions. I think I'll try to install an old windows (18003 for example) manually and then try to use drivers from the Drivers folder on the main drive. It was there since I've bought the laptop so I presume it's pretty old.

That seems like a good option. Yes, those drivers are really old I too have them on my HDD.

Good luck! If nothing works out you might have to wait till Lenovo and Microsoft roll out fixes for this issue. This is 100% a software issue.

Something similar happened to my dad's work laptop (Extremely high-end ThinkPad Yoga X380) and within a week lenovo released a fix.

Thanks man! I was also expecting some official reply from Lenovo somewhere but seems like they don't care much about the community problems.

Alright, I'll report back in a few days.

By the way, the last question - that Drivers folder usually contain some cmd or bat files, which I don't know how to properly execute - they either require some arguments passes or something else. Do you know how to install those drivers and software from that folder properly?

In my case all the driver files can be installed using the .exe setup files.

Re: Yoga 530-14IKB TOUCH SCREEN DOESNT WORK AFTER UPDATES

Well, here's what I've tried to do:

  1. Lenovo Recovery USB tool - it installs the latest windows with the latest drivers on the laptop from scratch - touch screen not working with fingers still; pencil works.
  2. Manual windows 10 18003 (old version) with manual installation of drivers from "C:\Drivers" which was there when I've bought the device - no luck, still not working with fingers; pencil works. The only sad point is that I didn't revert BIOS for this check, but I should've done it to be fully sure there's nothing left behind.

I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue, maybe BIOS update did break the sensor, don't know.

Any ideas on how to proceed are highly welcome. Still, no reply from Lenovo :(

This could happen?

I had the issues on previous Bios, I did the opposite - instead of rolling back to older version I upgraded to 5GCN31WW trying to solve the issue, no success. It's been more than one week without the touch screen.

If you're asking about the hardware - I don't know, at least I am very careful about this new laptop of mine so it should be good.

As for the BIOS stuff - technically, it can break the hardware if something is wrong in the code of this micro-program. I don't think Lenovo will tell the truth to us if that is what happened.

I've tried everything too. I got an update today and it's stopped my touchscreen AND my USB/SD Card readers. Motherboard says everything's fine. Touchscreen driver fails to read. Hidden USB Devices don't connect.

And I even uninstalled the update only for my laptop just automatically add it back.

In the end I sent my laptop to service (in guarantee), got it back after two weeks, unfortunately I have no report saying what they have done, but the screen is fixed.
