Yoga 700 Touchscreen issue

2015-12-14, 20:06 PM

Hello,

I have a brand new yoga 700 and I was ready to ship it back to Lenovo.  My touchscrren were not working properly and I had ghost touches.  I found nothing related to this issue for the yoga 700.

However, some people had the same issue with the Yoga 3 14.  see https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103512

After verification, I realized that I have the same hardware (LG) .  I applied the firmware recommended in the article and now my touchscreen work perfectly.

I hope this post can help some people.

I just bought the same device last week. The link you posted doesn't go to a functinal page, can you please help? I'm having the same issue and am thinking I will have to ship it back. I haven't yet talked to Lenovo. Why do all the links with that address go to pages that have a long error message on it??

OK, was able to open the page with the firmware download on my iPad and then email it to myself and then run the program on the affected laptop. So firmware updated. Let's see how it does over the weekend, hopefullly I'll see the same improvement.

I've had the ghost touches issue a few times since getting the laptop a couple weeks ago, just installed this firmware so hopefully it's fixed. I'll report back if it happens again or in a couple weeks if I'm still ghost touch free.

Since I installed the firmware, I haven't had any issues thankfully. So relieved that there was a solution!

It has been confirmed the solution referenced for ghost touches on the Yoga 3 14 will also resolve ghost touches experienced on Yoga 700 14 laptops. Lenovo is in the process of publishing the LCD firmware update specifically for Yoga 700 14.

I will post again when the update becomes available for Yoga 700 14.

Thank you,

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 700 a week ago and I am having the same issues with the ghost touch screen. I hope they can fix it soon because to be honest, it is not a cheap device and it is incredible that it has this kind of problems.

Re: Yoga 700 Touchscreen issue

I also had the same problem i had the i7 with the nvidia 940m. My touch screen also went wonky. The circles would just randomly press and sometimes in a straight line. Go to the link on the above and download the new firmware update for the yoga 3  14 inch model .

I had trouble at first the firmware update would not take, it went to like 50/371 and then tried and retried 4 times then failed, then my touchscreen was completely disabled. I called lenovo, and after doing a factory restore a few times the touchscreen was still not working. So i was like im screwed! i reset the firmware on my notebook and it messed it up.

But i was wrong.

You have to go to device manager and go human interface devices. If its light grey then its disabled its hidden. You may have to go to view in the device manager and show hidden items.

I uninstalled it, but it would not (auto detect) again like the tech said it should.  So i did a factory restore again and when i went to the boot up screen and moved my finger on the screen i noticed that the touch screen still didn't work. (it works on the recovery screen after reboot usually) so i was like ahhhhhh still not working.

For some reason or another When i went back to windows after my restore I reinstalled the firmware from the top of the website again. And this time it worked 100%. Touch screen functions restored, monitor working perfect for a few days now. No issues at all, i think its a bit more responsive to be honest I love it!

I can confirm that this firmware does work,

Please dont send it back to lenovo like I almost did. They will just send it back with the same faulty firmware that ghosts.

by the way i tried it unplugged from power like the post said and it didnt work. when i plugged it in it worked. I dont think that was the issue, but just keep that in mind.

I think the firmware wont work if the monitor is currently "acting up" so find a time when its working ok like after a fresh boot and install it quick.
