Yoga 700 resolution question just purchased last night

2016-01-09, 7:49 AM

I just purchased a Lenovo 700 14 inch with a dedicated nvidia 940 2gb card and an ipS display of 1920x1080

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-Yoga-700-14ISK-Convertible-Review.154580.0.html

They said on the website

The glossy 14-inch capacitive touchscreen is fixed at 1920 x 1080 with no higher or lower configuration options.

now this was tested on the crappy Intel hd graphics. Not the nvidia card one. Since there are two models of the yoga 700.

does this mean that I can't play games at a lower resolution? Let's say I wanna play gta 5 at 1024x768 or something. Or let's say I have an old windows game I wanna play does that mean it will load up in a window at 1024x768?  Or will it not work and say resolution not supported. I refuse to believe that a pc with gaming capabilities would only have one resolution! Please answer this before it ships. And would the dedicated graphics card allow multiple resolutions when the Intel hd would not? Thank you . I'm confused.

For info and I am not sure whether this helps.

I have a Lenovo 700 11 which seemed to be stuck on 1920 x 1080. I have Intel 515 graphics. I didn't have any options to change to any other settings until I installed Window 10 update 1511. Now I seem to be able to change the settings to 1024x768 (and others) it sort of fits in the middle with a black area either side. Not very nice for normal work. The performance tests I did showed it working faster.  Not played any games.

May be of some help, since no one else has chipped in.

Dave

Awsome this really helps me a lot ! It's interesting how a simple Windows update would correct this issue !  I'll remember update 1511. Thank you

I went today to Best Buy and look at the Lenovo 700 14 inch with the Intel HD graphics card and I did check the resolutions and I saw all of the resolutions as well thank you very much for your help I think the idiot that reviewed the laptop on the website didn't know what he was talking about but obviously we do! I did take a picture of it but I don't know how to upload it to this thing because there's no option
