I have the Lenovo Yoga 720, 15" FHD (not the 4k model), i7 with GTX 1050 4G...
and I want to connect it to a monitor, my laptop resolution is 1920x1080
can I connect it to a QHD? 2560x1440 the connection is via type-c (i think the Thunderbolt 3)
I was looking at the Dell UltraSharp U2715H 27'' LED IPS.
but not sure if my yoga 720 can output QHD... or should I go in the FHD monitor

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.
Maximum resolution supported by Yoga 720 is 3840x2160 @60Hz. So, it should handle QHD (2560x1440) resolution with ease IMHO.
I hope the above information helped you.

Resolution of external monitors normally depends upon Graphics card/Processor Graphics and is limited to the resolutions offered by external display which is here (2560×1440).
It has nothing to do with your laptop's LCD panel even though your system is capable of handling higher than (1920x1080) resolutions. But here the limiting factor is your laptop's display which is unable to produce resolutions higher than FHD.
I hope it make things more clearer to you.
