Yoga 720 - DPC Watchdog violation error

Hi, My Lenovo Yoga 720 Ideapad is running to "DPC watchdog violation" blue screen error whenever I am connected to internet within 1-2 mins. After repeated restart, I am unable to connect to Wifi as the system is not able to find any networking hardware. I am guessing the blue screen issue is something related to my Network adapter as the issue occurs only when I am trying to connect to Wifi. I have tried downloading the drivers for network adapter from Lenovo site for the 720 Model, but still am running into same issue. Has anyone faced this issue before?

I believe this error is usually related to a driver error.

The solution posted didn't help as there is no IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers option in my Device manager.

Sorry about that, in this case, try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

 

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

 I have done the following so far for the issue:

1. Downloaded recovery access media for my system from Lenovo site and created recoverable USB media.

2. Did a fresh reinstall of the OS.

3. During the last stages of installation, system again went to BSOD with error code DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. I guess the issue occurred again when the network adapter driver got installed. Since the installation was incomplete, system kep displaying error "Windows could not complete the installation."

4. So I reattempted the OS installation, by disabling the WIFI/LAN on BIOS. The installation was successful this time.

5. I then enabled the WIFI/LAN on BIOS and downloaded the network driver from Lenovo support site and installed the driver only to have struck the same BSOD error.

6. I have tried downloading the latest chipset driver for this model as suggested by you, installed, and restarted the system. 

7. I have also tried updating the BIOS for the system by downloading the same from Lenovo site but to no avail. 

 

So the issue seems to be clear; it's happening only when system detects network connections. If I disable the WIFI settings on BIOS, I am able to use the system with no issues.

 

Could someone please post a solution for this? It's been a month I am facing this issue and no support personnel could help resolve the issue. I also took the laptop to authorized lenovo service center, they said they cannot help on software issue and recommened me to do a fresh installtion of the OS as the solution. I did all of that and still am facing the issue.

 

Note: Laptop is just 2 month old and is well within the warranty. I bought this from Bestbuy online when in the US but now I am in India and the lenovo customer support says, the laptop cannot be covered in warranty outside the US. I am helpless.

Hi, Were you able to solve your issue? I am currentlly going through the same exact problem that you ahd emntioned. I tried installing all the updated versions of drivers and also did a reinstallation of Windows 10. I even took it to a Lenovo service centre. They said that the hardware is fine and could not diagnose the issue. Please help. URGENT!!
