Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

2017-11-02, 23:52 PM

So after 3 machines and a botched repair lenovo is sending me the Legion model I wanted because I just can't handle another yoga book having these issues. They were more than willing to work with me and even though the process took almost 4 months I'm getting a new, working model legion laptop shipped to me. My case manager was super helpful to work with, if your having these issues all I can say is give your case manager time to work things out and they should be able to resolve them.

So Lenovo still cannot fix the screen issue perfectly?

Came across this thread seaching. I'm having the same problem...again. They sent me a brand new replacement end of July, and here we are again. I use my laptop for work so I can't just send it off and wait without a laptop. Waitinig for at Customer Experience Manager to contact me and tell me what is the next step. I can't keep sending my laptop in every two months, that's crazy, especially because eventually it'll be out of warranty.

I'm concerned as well. It would not surprise me much if they "unofficially" keep covering this particular issue indefinitely. If they don't take care of us, I guarantee it'll be my last Lenovo.

@chatham7

Your replacement was made prior to the fix being implemented, so it stands to reason that the problem reared its ugly head eventually. I still don't recall seeing a definitive date that delineates which units will be affected. The first replacement I received was made in late July and it took very little jostling to make the diffuser line appear. My second replacement manufactured in October is fine.

I wonder if those of us with pre-October units should gently jostle to make it appear or take our chances?

They do seem to be taking care of the issue. Granted, many have shared the various stories of poor handling of the issue by CS reps for months and repair techs who sucked, but I think it's well documented and repairs are being made. Hang in there!

@ starrbuck68

I simply tapped the right rear cushion of the chassis (about as hard as tapping your fingers firmly on a table) and the diffuser dropped into view. Lenovo (and BBy) maintains that the failure rate is extremely low. I knew from the mfr date that it could have the problem, so I gave it a few taps. I didn't want to do a bunch of file transfers and hours of setup only to have the problem appear later.

Hi all,

has anyone of you had his/her screen actually repaired? Really unsure about sending it in.

Best

Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

After reading all 56 pages (I have the black line issue also), I am wondering this as well. I don't want to go through the repair process unless I am sure it will be repaired permanently. Anyone have a repaired/replaced 720 that has been working for a few weeks at least?

Thanks,

-Eric
