Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

All,

Thank you for your patience and thanks to those who sent me their serial numbers.  Engineering is investigating this to identify the root cause and solution. Engineering are looking for systems to inspect more closely for evaluation and I will be sending some members a private message in this regard.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

Thank you Andy. I swear though, it looks like a piece of something because it is slowing getting longer and longer on my display and coming down at an angle.

Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

It looks like it's either the digitizer or a filter for the screen that's come loose. I noticed I was able to move mine a bit by flipping it upside down. I'm not sure how the piece would be sandwiched in there, but it definitely seems like it gets knocked loose by normal wear-and-tear.

@interim that is what I am saying. Mine is at an angle and slowly falling down. It is a piece of material. Tomorrow I'll have the onsite warranty active and I'm making an appointment. I am going to have them open the screen and remove it. Hopefully they will be here on Friday.

You don't have an Active Pen by chance, do you? Would be interesting to see if it worked above the dark line. That would show that it's the digitizer that's coming apart and falling down or whatever. Touch detection works above the dark line, right? I'm also kind of curious about environmental factors where people with failed screens live, like what is the humidity there? Any other extreme situations that laptop is in, like sitting in sunlight or extreme heat or cold, etc.

Probably doesn't matter and there is just a batch of these that didn't get enough glue or whatever. I am just a little nervous that my screen is going to have this issue too, since it is from the same batch as some failed ones.

Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

Seems to be fine, based on some casual testing. A swiping motion from the edge of the screen downward where the thing has fallen still allows me to drag windows around and register taps in that area. At least it doesn't initially seem to impair the functionality of the thing, just the cosmetic aspect (for now at least).

Re: Yoga 720 Display Issue

I don't think Environmental Factors play into it. Mine came from the East Coast and was like it out of the box.
