I got my lenovo YOGA 720 about 6 months ago and everything was great so far. Two days ago, I was working and the computer shutted down suddenly. When I turned it on again, it said the boot had failed or boot device was missing. I entered the boot menu and realized that the HD was no longer being detected.
I have tried to fix the master boot using a usb recovery but haven't been successful.
The situation sucks because I am in Japan (but am from Canada) and after calling the support they told me I would have to ship it back to Canada for technical support. So, before doing that, I'd like to exhaust all the possibilities.
Please, let me know what I could try on my own. Thanks!

Welcome to the Community Forums.
I would suggest verifying the harddrive in the BIOS screen.
While the system is off, use the Novo button to power on the laptop.
Check the harddrive from the main page and try to restore defaults from the exit tab.
You can also manually remove the harddrive to check if its working on another laptop. You can also take the opportunity if back up is possible if detected on another unit. Else, you can also try another compatible drive to see if the machine detects it on the BIOS.
Here is the hardware manual that you can review for reference.
I hope this helps answer your query.
