Yoga 720 Touchpad and Mouse Stop Working After Closing Lid

2018-02-10, 18:41 PM

Just purchased a YOGA 720. I am having an issue with the Touch Pad and Mouse. Everything works fine on startup but if I close the lid and then reopen the touchpad and mouse become inoperarable.

On start up I checked the Device Manager and see two "HID Compliant Mouse" items. If I close the lid and re-open the touchpad mouse stops working and when I check the Device manager again only ONE "HID Compliant Mouse" item is listed. I hit the "scan for hardware changes" but it still does not come back. If I delete the remaining "HID Compliant Mouse" and scan for hardware changes, it re-populated the item but the mouse still does not work.

Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

Try this:

1) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
2) Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
3) Right-click the device name of your mouse our touchpad driver and click Properties.
4) Click Power Management, make sure the box for Allow the computer to turn off his device to save power option is un-checked and click OK.
5) Reboot.

I tried the suggestion on this post. There were two listings under mouse/pointer. Both were HD compliant mouse.  Any other suggestions? I have had this all of one day.

Thanks

Jim

This was the solution to my problem with the touchpad on my Lenovo Yoga 700 laptop (disabled automatically after sleep).  I removed the device with the question mark in the Device Manager (run devmgmt.msc), restarted the computer, and now, the touchpad always works, even after the laptop goes to sleep.

The solution to uninstall the driver with a question mark worked for me usually but today it didn't.

Today I DID get it to work, but I did:

-restart

-uninstall driver with error

-restart

-unisntall driver with error

-restart

-disable driver with error

-uninstall driver with error

-restart

-shut down

-start  (now I can see the mouse in the center of the screen but it still won't move

-restart

-now it works

and then magically I could use my mouse as usual. This is on a Yoga 900, though. No friggin clue what could cause this behavior. Been hoping for a driver update for 3 years lol.

I have the same problem on a Yoga C940.  Device Manager lists 2 "HID-compliant mouse".  Neither have a question mark.  Properties of neither include Power Management.   Support simply tries to reset drivers, uninstall/reinstall, etc., all with no lasting solution.

However I have found a work-around that works for me every time. I've posted here. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/When-Yoga-wakes-from-lid-close-no-keyboard-or-mouse/m-p/4018066?page=1#5191730 I hope that it is of some help to you.
