Yoga 720 - Windows 10 Problems

2018-01-16, 21:25 PM

Hi,

i have bought the Lenovo Yoga 720 and i am still impressed of the solif quality.

The notebook was shipped with Windows 10 Home.

For Software development purposes, i have had to upgrade the system to Windows 10 pro

After buying this in the windows store, i installed the upgrade and everything seems to run smooth.

But when i was installing Microsoft Dynamics NAV2017, the software (service) could not start.

The error was "Error 1509 cyclic service dependency", but there was no more info in the system event log.

I was unable to identify, which services was the causers.

Until now, i never had problems to install Dynamics NAV, the system has no high requirements

I think, the reason was the Windows Upgrade from Home to Pro.

Is is a worth idea, to install a full version of Windows 10 from the scratch?

Or do you have any other idea?

For me its ok, to reset the system, because until now the system is fresh (not much data on it)

Hoping, that you have good ides for me, my knowledge is at the end ;-((

/Peter

You don't need to install Windows 10 Professional (Upgrade or Clean Install) over Home (OEM).
Just "open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings”. Select “Update & security”, and then select “Activation”. You'll see the edition of Windows 10 you have displayed here. To convert from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Professional, click or tap the “Go to Store” button in the Activation pane."
There is a cost, don't need a reinstall, it works (I've done it), the license is from MS, and from my experience it is as if the Pro version was original Lenovo installation.
Hope this helps.

Hi Peter_27

You should use the Novo button to attempt a factory reset.
Note: Please BACK UP all your data as running this reset will delete any data on your machine

1. Turn the machine off and press the recovery button (number 5, picture) which is located in the left side.
2. Use the arrow keys and press enter on "System Recovery" option.
3. Select “restore from the initial backup” and then “Next”.
4. Click “start” and accept the warning messages.
Length of time can vary depending on the speed of the machine.

Hope this helps,

Hi Birraque,

my final question (hopefully):

i installed MS Office 365 Home Subscription (i have a key for 5 users), and have bought Windows 10 pro in the windows store. Do i have to store / noticce the windows 10 pro product activation key before, or will that be recognized automatically with my Windows Id?

Keep a Backup of any Original Activation Key in a safe place.
But once activated with your Microsoft ID it will be automatically recovery for you always needed.
Just remember to use the same Microsoft ID.
