Yoga 720 Won't boot - Tried Novo

2019-04-17, 22:16 PM

My lenovo 720-I13kb (80X6002JUS). only shows the boot drive screen from start up the other morning - It won't see the usb drive nor can I boot from it.

I took it to a computer shop - they recommended I clean the SSD card with 91% rubbing alcohol and re-install I did this and still no joy (and compressed air).  I also tried to boot using the NOVO button - I do get  a boot menu that way - however, it still won't see the thumb drive.

Can I assume that I need to replace the SSD card? If so can you verify that the correct part number is: 5sd0l73444 (for 256)? Additonally, if I wanted to upgrade to 512 - what would the part number for that be?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi sparky403,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Best way to check if the SSD stick is still ok is to try it with another machine. This will help isolate if the issue is with the SSD or the connector. If there is also a spare SSD, it can check if the connector/ slot on the machine is working.

BIOS should be able to detect the SSD likewise.

For the 80X6002JUS, PN 5SD0L73444 (SS MZVLW256HEHP 256G PCIE SSD) is the SSD that came with the machine like what you have noted. You can get other compatible 512GB SSD here in the parts lookup page (click compatible under configuration, solid state under commodity list).

Examples are:

PN 5SD0M56300 (TSB XG4 512G M.2 2280 PCIe SSD)

PN 01FR511 (Storage SSD PM981 PCIe 512G SAM)

Even 1TB PN 5SD0L07883 (SS MZVLW1T0HMLH-000L2 1T)

You can check lenovo encompass and other certified resellers for parts availability and costing.

I hope this helps answer your query.
