Yoga 730-131Kb Screen Flickering Issues Have Begun Within Several Days of Receiving My NEW Laptop

Following advice posted online by the Lenovo Support team to update my drives and bios has not helped and I am extremly fustrated that a new laptop not even a month old is consistantly glitching on a day to day basis, at times geting so severe as to impede my work, is there a way to fix this without having to call up the Lenovo customer support and fighting through a machin answering machine to get some help.

My sons Yoga 730 he just bought from BestBuy has the same issue. He needs it for school and can't affort to send it away for report. I am an IT guy and have checked it out. Windows and Lenovo updates have all been applied to do not correct the issue. Seems like a hw problem. What are the next steps?

Hi Joe149,

Greetings.

If you feel that the flickering issue is of hardware origin and do not shown on any external display, it would be best to call in tech support to have it reported. You would be able to plan ahead with scheduling calendar for the repair if needed.

Regards

Re: Yoga 730-131Kb Screen Flickering Issues Have Begun Within Several Days of Receiving My NEW Lapto

My son reported a screen flickering issue for his Yoga 730 this morning. While doing research on the issue I found the following YouTube video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkDLOeopwtk

In the comments to the video the issue is caused by loose screws for the underside bottom cover. I'm not sure if it's just the cover screws or if there are more screws inside the unit, closer to the display cable, that are only accessible after the bottom cover is removed. I have not confirmed this solution on my son's laptop yet but thought this might be something to look at and try.

Hi @bkb076!

Welcome to the Community,

We would suggest to have a specialist took over in doing that, as it might void the warranty of your laptop if incorrectly done and caused additional damage to the laptop. We've like to check something before we proceed. Open Device Manager https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/4026149/windows-open-device-manager and check Monitor info, to see if your laptop is using an IVO display.

Are the IVO displays known to cause this flickering issue?

I have the same issue and touching/pushing on the surface on the left side below the screen stops it. Device monitor details are below.

Please let me know what i need to do asap as i use it for work and school. Got it at Best Buy and can return it if there isnt a quick solution.

Thanks

Re: Yoga 730-131Kb Screen Flickering Issues Have Begun Within Several Days of Receiving My NEW Lapto

The screws on the underside of the laptop were tightened but the bottom cover was never removed. Since doing that he has not experienced any flickering, although it's only been a day. Also, the flickering was nowhere near as bad as what the video shows. He described it as it would flicker for a second or two and then go back to normal.

Here is the contents of the Information box from the Device Manager - no IVO.

Re: Yoga 730-131Kb Screen Flickering Issues Have Begun Within Several Days of Receiving My NEW Lapto

HI Hector,

I am also experiencing this issue since beginning of September. It was totally fine in Jul,Aug. I bought it in June 2018.

When I checked I see desktop.PNG

Should I send it back for repair or can we figure it out with your help?

Thanks.
