Yoga 730 (15") and Thunderbolt 3

2018-12-26, 12:28 PM

I am interested in purchasing a Yoga 730 (15"), in large part because it has a Thunderbolt 3 port. Will the Thunderbolt 3 port on this laptop enable be to achieve the following using a single cable connected to a suitable Thunderbolt 3 dock?

1) Charging the laptop

2) Simultaneous connection to two external monitors in extended desktop configuration?

Am asking because I have seen isolated reports on forums of these functions not working. However, these were a few months ago so want to check what the current situation is and if anyone on here can confirm that these functions are working.

Thank you

Hi Ozaz! Welcome to our forums community. The Yoga 730 13" and Yoga 15" can both connect up to 2 displays using compatible hub or extenders. It's the Yoga 730 13" that has the charging capability only trough the USB-C port. You can refer to this link: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/yoga730-13ikb_yoga730-15ikb_yoga730-13iwl_yoga730-15iwl_ug_en_201809.pdf for more information.
