Yoga 730-15IKB Defective keyboard

2019-11-14, 17:32 PM

Hi!

A few buttons on my keyboard sometimes work and sometimes they don't. This means when I press the number 5 for like, 20 times, it works for a few seconds after the 10th time and then randomly it doesn't anymore a few minutes later.

The following keys are affected:  5 6 - ~ lctrl _+

I've already read some topics about spamming the FN button or pressing other buttons to make it work, but they didn't. I've also tried the following things:

- Updated drivers

- Downgraded drivers

- Tried using the affected keys in a terminal (Bash, powershell and cmd prompt), but none worked consistently

- Tried using the affected keys in the bios, same story as with terminal.

- Factory resetted the laptop

- Updated windows

- Spamming FN button (suggested somewhere)

I've already sent it for repair one time, but they've returned the laptop with a bios updated and thought that would've fixed everything, blaming it on a software issue...

I tried to send it again, but the submit button of the support page for live chat, email or service request has some javascript issues with the _handleSubmit function, so I can't send another support request.

Can somebody help me with this?

Hi ,

Welcome to the community forums.

Since the BIOS has been updated and the you already have restored the OS to its factory settings, but the keys are still not working then keyboard needs to be replaced.

Have you tried using a different browser or reset the browser settings that you're using to set up a service request online?

You may also try contacting our local support to set up the service.

Regards.

Auxen

Hi @Auxen_Lenovo

We tried multiple browsers like Chrome, Edge and Firefox, but all of them gave the same JS error.

I can send you the part of the code which doesn't work because of the undefined variable if that helps.

I guess it's back to calling the local support.

Have you tried using a different computer? If you still can't access the website then, send a feedback om our website here. Click on the feedback icon on the lower right.

We appreciate bring this to our attention but no need to send the part of the code since we have verified that is it a hardware issue and needs replacement.

Regards!

Hi

I have a brand new C940-14llL (81q9)

I am experiencing same issue with defect keyboard as described above, but only when I plug it in to the Thunderbolt 3 dock gen 2 (40AN).

That one also brand new.

Overall the computer feel "laggy" when its connected to the dock.

All updates I could find are made (2020-01-27)

I need to get this fixed or it will be returned
