Yoga 730-15IWL battery started to drop to zero randomly

2020-09-14, 10:49 AM

Hi,

as stated above my battery recently started to drop to zero for no apparent reason (it displays 40-50% and then shuts down).

I've always taken good care of the battery (didn't discarge it to far etc.) so I'm unsure why this happens.

Most often it happens after a day without usage (shut down not standby).

Has anyone any suggestions as to why this may be happening?

Thanks in advance and regards

JPff

Hi JonosPff,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Batteries are consumable parts but it would be best to check the battery report first.

Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin), type powercfg /batteryreport

The report will be saved under C:\Windows\System32 as battery-report.

Try using the laptop with battery only until it goes off.

Here we expect that when it is connected to the charger adapter that the indicator is solid amber.

Have it connected with the charger (not turning it on) until it goes solid white.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi spidey101,

first of all thank you for your answer. Remaining battery capacity is 44.100 mWh, so i don't think that this is the problem...

The thing that worries me the most is still, that when I turn it on after a day, it is initially at ~40% per cent and and after one or two minutes it drops to zero and shuts down.

I don't think that this is a battery problem.

Thank you for your anser and have a nice day

730-13IWL after 1 year of using it, when i unplug the adapter, notebook can turn off instantly. Lenovo Vantage reported the battery is highly degrated, pls replace your battery(after 1 year? seriously?) and now, after 3 more months, battery isn't charging anymore...Thank you Lenovo, its happened when  warranty has expired for 3 months.

Why its looks like happened deliberratly?
