Yoga 730 auto power on?

I moved from a Dell which had a BIOS setting to auto power up (day of week and time) which was very useful. I can't find any setting in the BIOS for a similar capability with my Yoga 730. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks. Great machine so far (1 week).

Re: Yoga 730 auto power on?

AIUI, the BIOS on newer computers no longer contains the RTC settings, so you'd probably have to rely on Task Manager to wake the computer from sleep.

Re: Yoga 730 auto power on?

I was hoping to avoid this but appreciate your reply. I'll try and figure out how to put the PC to sleep then wake it via task manager.

Thanks,

Re: Yoga 730 auto power on?

I tried task scheduler but it does not seem to work. It should but I cannot seem to get it to do so. Thanks for the attempt, though!

Yeah, I am trying the Task Scheduler but it doesn't seem to work. Something isn't turned on somewhere.
Thanks for the note, regardless!

Re: Yoga 730 auto power on?

You did turn off hybrid sleep/hibernate and set the computer to never hibernate, right? Task Scheduler can wake it from sleep, but not hibernation.

Lenovo Ideapad Y700

Hello, guys.

Can any of you help me with the following case:

I'm trying to turn on the "auto power on" mode on my lenovo but I can't find a way. I've checked the BIOS but it does no show "power options" or similar.

How do I know if this model has the Auto Power On option? If it does, how do I configure it?.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y700

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you just want the computer to wake up at a certain day and time, you can configure that in Windows Advanced Power settings. Just make sure the computer sleeps and is not shut down. I could be wrong, but I don't think wake timers will power up a shut down computer.

  1. Open Settings > System > Power and Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Click on Change Plan Settings.
  2. Make sure to select the right power plan, and then choose the option Change advanced Power settings.
  3. Look for the Sleep tree and expand it to find the option which says  Allow Wake Timers.

Next, configure the wake timers.

If you're looking to have the computer power up after a power failure, if you don't see that setting in BIOS, then it's not something the computer can do. I'm sure some older laptops might have had that capability, but AFAIK newer ones don't.

Good luck

Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y700

Thanks, man.

This was exactly what I was asking. I was tryinh to find out how I could shut down the computer and then it would power on aumatically. I used to do that whit my older computer but as you mentioned, it seems that the new ones do not have the option to power on a computer from a complete shut down.

I used to do it by changin the power section in the BIOS but I could find it on the new computer.
