Yoga 900 13isk2 battery drain while powered off

My yoga 900 battery drains ~15% per day when powered off.

Issue looks similar to multiple posts for other Lenovo laptops, for instance:

ThinkPad E455 Excessive Battery Drains When Power Off

I'm running Windows 10. Fast boot is already disabled and BIOS recently updated.

Does anybody have an idea how to get the issue solved for my product?

For instance: is there a way to manually change the power setting for USB and AC-button in power off mode?

Thanks in advance for thinking along

Re: Yoga 900 13isk2 battery drain while powered off

What I can think of is turning off fast bootup or replacing the battery. Here's the steps to turn off fast bootup:

1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Power Options icon.

2. Click/tap on the Choose what the power buttons do link on the left side. (see screenshot below)

3. Click/tap on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top. (see screenshot below)

4. If prompted by UAC, click/tap on Yes.

5.  Under Shutdown settings, uncheck the Turn on fast startup box, click/tap on the Save changes button

Hm, exactly the same here, with a Yoga 910 (80VF007RMH).

Have you found a solution yet?

Unfortunately not. I am thinking of opening up the cover and checking the connection, although i am a bit hesitant to go that direction.

I have reported the issue to Lenovo support. Let's see what they come up with.

Re: Yoga 900 13isk2 battery drain while powered off

Create a battery report and contact Lenovo support. It might just be a defective battery:

Re: Yoga 900 13isk2 battery drain while powered off

That's a good tip! I ran it, and you can clearly see the battery is draining, while the laptop is shut off:

Recent usage
Power states over the last 3 days
START TIME STATE SOURCE CAPACITY REMAINING
2017-03-13 07:53:46 Active AC 100 % 78,610 mWh
18:22:00 Suspended 100 % 77,740 mWh
2017-03-14 08:29:33 Active Battery 87 % 67,780 mWh
08:33:00 Suspended 86 % 67,230 mWh
2017-03-15 11:08:18 Active Battery 62 % 48,170 mWh
11:26:48 Report generated Battery 58 % 45,460 mWh

I will reply this to Lenovo support, as an answer to their suggestion to send them the laptop, and have it back after a three week repair period..

Re: Yoga 900 13isk2 battery drain while powered off

Thanks.

I have also created the battery report and sent it to Lenovo Support.

Drain in my case is 15% per 24h (in the table: 31% in 49h):

2017-03-1420:03:59ActiveBattery36 %24 mWh
20:04:52Suspended 36 %24 mWh
2017-03-1621:06:18ActiveBattery5 %3 mWh

(i didn't know of this battery_report function, thanks! i had found a 3rd party freeware to log the battery - which also worked, but native functions are always better in these cases Smiley Happy )

Re: Yoga 900 13isk2 battery drain while powered off

I have found that in my case the battery drain is related to having some devices connected to the USB3.0 port.
When I keep my LAN adapter connected, or one specific mouse, the battery drains while the laptop is powered off.
When having another mouse, or a keyboard connected on the port, the battery drain doesn't occur.

So, the DIY fix is to disconnect everything from the USB 3.0 port when you have the laptop powered down. I would have no idea of the root cause.
