glad it worked out! yes, it definitely seems like an issue with the earlier manufactured products.

I did this and it didn't solve it, hense why I'll have a tech coming to deal with it.

Re: Yoga 900 Lid close sleep issue

I have the same issue. **bleep** thing nearly roasted itself to death twice this week, in a laptop bag for more than an hour. Today it was so hot I almost couldn't hold it after getting it out of the bag. Two different bags, one of which is a large courier style with LOTS of room and padding - it should be laptop heaven.

It's easiest to do with a bit of paper on the keyboard, but even bare it can be resumed from sleep with a press in just the right spot.

This one was manufactured in mid-October 2015. I'll be exchanging it at Beast Buy this weekend for a newer unit (the mfg date is visible on the packaging) and see how it goes.

This thing already has some troubling issues, but this is a complete deal-breaker if it isn't solved with a newer build.

What did the tech have to say about the issue? I'm assuming he couldn't do anything onsite to help.

Was able to demonstrate the issue to the Beast Buy Geeky guy. He was able to replicate it in the store.

New unit obtained today. Mfg. date Nov. 17, 2015 (just seven weeks ago). Same exact issue - and like the last unit, the easiest way to do it is along the hinge side, exactly as one would hold it to put it into a carrying case.

Will be contacting Lenovo support on Monday. If they have no solution in sight, back it goes for some other model.

Lenovo support tried a few changes via a remote support session, relating to fast boot (turned off) and also a battery saver option in the graphics driver (turned off). Neither one fixed the issue.

His solution was to send it to the Lenovo depot for repairs - even though I explained that this was my second unit.

One workaround I found - setting the action on close lid to Hibernate instead of Sleep. It does work, but waking it back up is of course slower than if it were simply asleep.

I had to call support again today since an on-site tech hadn't contacted me about coming out to look at the system. Turns out they had closed the case, SOMEHOW thinking the issue was resolved, despite the fact no one had come on-site. Geezus!

I was wandering what had happened with yours. That is not good news.

A co-worker with a Surface tablet was having similar issues following an update to Windows 10.

For him, the solution was in the Device Manager ... the keyboard properties menu has a "Power management" tab that let him uncheck the "Allow this device to wake the computer from sleep" box - problem solved.

There is no such option on the Yoga, but it offers me hope that there is a software solution.
