Re: Yoga 900 Lid close sleep issue

Well, the issue is the keyboard isn't getting turned off when the screen is closed, which, unless I'm wildly off base, that's what should happen.

True, which really should be handled in firmware. The keyboard is disabled when the hinge is rotated past 180 degrees; it should also be disabled when the lid is closed. I've found that my external mouse, shown as a "HID compliant mouse" in the device manager, wakes the computer from sleep even if the "Allow this device to wake the computer" is unchecked.

The question to Lenovo is: can this be done with a BIOS update? Or is this a physical repair/replacement of some part or other?

Out of curiosity, can anyone with a "fixed" Yoga that doesn't exhibit this issue post the manufacturing date? It's on the stickers on the bottom of the unit. I've had 10/15/2015 and 11/17/2015 that both have the problem.

Still no word from an on-site tech. This is pretty ridiculous. I opened this case a month ago.

I am planning on buying an extended warranty, but based on your experience JakCrow, I don't think I'm going to pay extra for onsite.

Despite the issues I've had with Lenovo support, I would recommend the on-site service plan. When a tech did come out for a USB port issue I had, it was infinitely better than having to send the laptop off to a service center.

Okay, so the on-site tech came out this morning and I showed him the problem, and it was his opinion that swapping the parts they gave him would not fix this. I agreed. At this point, he's going to add his notes to the case and recommend that Lenovo proper check out the laptop, which means I'll need to send it in. This isn't that big of a deal for me since this is a travel system for me. It's possible this could be a design flaw given how thin this is. Hard to say.

I was trying to figure out if there was a way to have the keyboard backlighting on by default, and found this thread, making me realize that i too have this issue.

I'm strongly assuming this won't ever be fixed, so best use hibernate instead, huh?

For anyone in this thread who is experiencing an unintended wake-up of their Yoga 900 while the lid is closed and the PC is asleep, specifically, please see:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-waking-from-sleep/m-p/2260000#M37711

There is a new BIOS that has resolved this particular issue for a number of people.

Regards.

@Landon...

As this is your thread, and as you've reported that you exchanged your machine for one that meets your expectations with regards to your originally described issues, I have marked your post (#6, above) as the solution.

Regards.

Why was I put through a bunch of unnecessary steps and why was the on-site tech going to replace some parts if this was going to be the fix?
