Re: Yoga 900 - Sleep mode issue

2016-06-20, 2:47 AM

I have had my Yoga 900 for 7 days and just experienced this issue. Now concerned with my purchase. I can return within 14 days. I tried and tried to get it to come on by pressing & the power button. Finally after reading the posts in this site, I held button until the light stopped blinking. Then was cable to turn it on. Lenovo, please tell us what to do to keep this from happening again.

I just saw the msg above from Lenovo. I've saved this info on my computer & plan to take it to the geek squad at BB to look at. The person who updated the bios is still having this problem. It doesn't look like exchanging this 900 will fix this problem so I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. Frustrating. My first experience with Lenovo.

It sounds like you have your power button set to turn off the display. To change this, go to power options in the control panel, and in the left column, select "choose what the power button does". There, you can change what happens when you press the power button or close the lid.

Hope that helps!

Re: Yoga 900 - Sleep mode issue

For the benefit of others,  my Yoga 900 13ISK went back to Best Buy today becuase of this issue. Installed the v37 bios (twice actually) and wiped/reloaded back to the factory image. I tried all the latest drivers up thru those posted on 7/20/2016, all had no effect.

My experience was the same as what others reported - system would seem to wake up (power light on steady, fan noise, keyboard illuminated) but no display image. Would wake up successfully maybe 20% of the time. No difference in behavior wether put to sleep by closing the lid, choosing sleep from the power menu or pressing the power button.

One thing I did notice was that the embedded controller version did not match the bios version, even after re-flashing the bios. The EC version stayed at v32. Not sure if this is an indication of any problem.

A tech behind the o**bleep**er at BB overheard my description of the problem from a distance and said 'A Yoga 900, right?' so they are obviously all too aware of it.

I'm sure Lenovo will eventually fix this issue, but sorry I can't shell out $1200 and then wait for a solution. Best Buy exchange process was very smooth and hassle free!

Re: Yoga 900 - Sleep mode issue

Amy (Lenovo),

I am no longer having the issue of the system not recovering from sleep.  However, my computer is having recurring unexpected "restarts" (shutdowns).  I have updated all of the drivers that I can think of from here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/yoga-900-13isk/80MK/002JUS?linkTrack=Caps%3ABody_DetectProduct&beta=false   (interestingly Lenovo Update did not prompt to update most of these drivers that appear on this page)

Spontaneous recurring reboots are very frustrating as I use this for work and travel as an executive extensively to visit customers & partners.  I leave laptop alone for 2-3 hours and it reboots itself!

System info and error log messages blow.  Also included dump file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14453206/071016-6156-01.dmp

Resetting to factory default has solved the issue going to sleep, but still problems when resuming from sleep mode, as described/confirmed in other posts as well.

Is there any solution on-going, or only replacement?

The'fix' suggestion (reinstall Win10) was unfortunately like many in tech support- they put all the work and pain on you with a quick and rather lazy comment that has no chance of success other than dumb luck, - how about real tech support like lenovo replicating the problem and then putting out a bios or app fix that actually fixes it?

Re: Yoga 900 - Sleep mode issue

2016-09-19, 15:13 PM

I have had my Yoga 900 for 6 months now.  Had the sleep modus issue since Day 1 and the Hinge Cap issue (falling off) since Month 2.  The solutions offered were 'laptop replacement' and 'mail in to get entire hinge replaced', respectively.  There is no option to have a replacement/loaner the same day as you hand your computer in.  I can't do that since I use this laptop 5+ hours a day, 7 days a week for work (self employed).  I was hoping for Lenovo to work out the software issue, at least, for what they call themselves their 'flagship laptop'.  Resolving the hinge issue could be as simple as having a part that measures 1/10 if an inch and likely costs less than 5 cents to make mailed out (48 cents), as another foum member suggested.

But obviously, there is very, very little effort put against making Lenovo users feel good about their product purchase. At least compared to promoting and selling the flawed machines.

I guess Lenovo will only wake up once consumers had enough or their machine defects take on a truly ugly dimension.  Just ask Samsung about their latest flagship product. Very, very sad state of affairs.

Actually I have now no more problems with the resume from sleep mode.
After the actual factory reset and installing only Lenovo own drivers it seems that everything is working now.

Re: Yoga 900 - Sleep mode issue

this worked for me:

900 13 isk, wifi card is intel AC8260

  • Click on your Start Menu and type “Network and Sharing”, and open the Network and Sharing Center.

  • Now click “Change adapter settings” on the left pane.

  • Now right click on your active Internet adapter (wifi) and click Properties, if there is only one adapter then that’s the one.

  • Now click the Configure button on top right and go to the Advanced tab.
  • Over here, find “Wake on Magic Packet” and set it to Disabled, do the same with “Wake on Pattern Match”.
  • Click OK and save the settings, then restart your PC twice – again, twice is the important bit.
