Yoga 900 battery

After a year of use, I observe that my battery only lasts a bit more than 3 hours with "normal" use (that means 20 applications, 50 tabs open in Firefox, 4 main cloud apps running). I don't think I had much more than 5-6 hours at the beginning. I suppose I would save an hour or so if I closed everything but that's still very far from the more than 8 hours generally acknowledged. Could it be that my battery is already dying? I can't find where to see how many cycles it did but it must be around 20 at most. So I am a bit disappointed and worried

Re: Yoga 900 battery

Hi mkitten

Have you attempted a battery gauge reset to see if it helps improve the battery life?

Also, you can attempt the following to find out some information with your batterys health. Open Command Prompt as administrator and type in 'powercfg /batteryreport', that should give you some information such as the cycle count and full charge capacity. Please note that this will create a HTML report file that will be saved in C:\Users\NAME\battery report.html - Please report back with the results Smiley Happy

Also, you may want to refer to this link about how to improve the battery life of your machine that may be of some use.

Hope this helps and please let us know how you get on.

Re: Yoga 900 battery

thank you. How do I attempt a "battery gauge reset"?

-The command reports a full charge capacity of 60.68mWh (vs 66 in capacity). The capacity history for the last 4 months is relatively consistent at around 62, except yesterday showing 57

-It confirms that last time I drained 91% of the capacity in 3 hours

There is a "battery life estimate at full charge" that ranges from 2:42 to 7:22, with an average of 5 (I suppose hours)

-There is no information for the cycle count! Usage history shows 20 usages in the last 4 months (the 8 previous months are not shown)

How do I attempt a "battery gauge reset"?

Start Lenovo Settings app. Click the battery icon on the left side tool bar. Scroll down to Battery Gauge Reset and click Perform Reset. Note that this process could take several hours. A good idea is to start it at the end of the day.

There is no information for the cycle count

At the top of the same battery page in Lenovo Settings there's a Battery Status section. Click Show Details to get a detailed summary about your battery including the cycle count.

Re: Yoga 900 battery

thanks but...

I can't see battery gauge reset. In Lenovo settings/battery, I get:

-Power status

-Conservation mode

-Battery stretch

-Alway on USB

Hi mkitten,

Are you able to see it if you do the following: Power manager > Battery tab > Battery Maintenance?

Re: Yoga 900 battery

Where do I find Power Manager?

I have Power Options and System/Battery in Windows 10 settings, and a Power tab in Lenovo settings, but I haven't found any battery maintenance option
