Yoga 900 factory reset? Help!

I need to restore to factory defaults. As if I was going to sell my yoga. The reason being that I forgot my master password and never set up a windows account (only local). There a lot of apps, etc on the yoga that I don't need and just want to start fresh. I press the novo button but there's no option for one key settings, and I can't forgive out how to reset without my password. Please help!

Re: Yoga 900 factory reset? Help!

Hi KKeithley ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

How far would it start until a password is asked ?

As per hardware manual about passwords (page 24) :

As many as three passwords may be needed for any Lenovo computer: the power-on password (POP), the hard disk password (HDP), and the supervisor password. If any of these passwords has been set, a prompt for it appears on the screen whenever the computer is turned on. The computer does not start until the password is entered.

There are two hard-disk passwords (HDPs): + User HDP - for the user + Master HDP - for the system administrator, who can use it to get access to the hard disk drive even if the user has changed the user HDP Attention: If the user HDP has been forgotten, check whether a master HDP has been set. If it has, it can be used for access to the hard disk drive. If no master HDP is available, neither Lenovo nor Lenov authorized service technicians provide any services to reset either the user or the master HDP, or to recover data from the hard disk drive. The hard disk drive can be replaced for a scheduled fee.

A supervisor password protects the system information stored in the BIOS. The user must enter the supervisor password to get access to the BIOS and change the system configuration. Attention: If you forget the password, there is no service procedure to reset the password. The system board must be replaced for a scheduled fee.

About One Key Recovery (page 23) , powering the machine using the Novo button should allow you to access the Novo Menu not unless that the password issue prevents you.

It would be important that you recall or type the correct password as this is a security feature ensuring that all is correct as it is also key sensitive (capslocks/ special keys) .

Regards
