Yoga 900 screen replacement

I unfortunately cracked my yoga 900's screen. I managed to disable the touch screen so it is still somewhat usable but i'll need to replace the screen before October.

Are there still available screens? What is the process for initiating the repair? I live in Halifax and the local Staples is listed as a service support partner.

I'm out of warrenty but willing to pay for the repair and avoid buying a new laptop. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Re: Yoga 900 screen replacement

Hi Dave,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Sorry to hear that you recently cracked the yoga 900 screen accidentally and  now you would want to replace the screen although the unit is out of warranty. In this case what you can do is  call up this number (902) 800-4465  which is a toll free number and they would suggest you which one would be the closest service center for you.

Here’s the part number according to the colour, for silver(5D10K26887), Golden(5D10K26885) and for  orange(5D10K26886). You can provide the part number to the representative who will take your call.

I hope the above information helps.

Re: Yoga 900 screen replacement

Thanks for the quick response! Looks like the solution would be an LCD complete assembly (install sku 570828) at around 600 cdn. Is that the best route for this situation? I have been told that the LCD Panel Only option is unavailable  (sku 570829 at 250 cdn.)

At that point, I might also be interested in perhaps trading in my current unit towards purchasing a Yoga 910. Would that be possible? Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Yoga 900 screen replacement

Hi DaveHG

In addition, here are further service centers that you can also check for possible repairs:

Dymaxion Research Ltd.
Tel: (902)422-1973
5515 Cogswell St., Halifax, NS
Monday - Friday : 9:00 - 17:00

IMP Solutions
Tel: (902)482-1600
2651 Joseph Howe Drive,suite 202, Halifax, NS
Monday - Friday : 9:00 - 17:00

PC Medic Inc
Tel: (902)468-7237
2760 Robie Street, Halifax, NS
Monday - Friday : 9:00 - 17:00

You may also verify your LCD panel part number using your serial number here on the parts look up page.

Since this is just a screen issue that would also work when connected to an external screen, there would be a lot of buyers that may be interested also where you can also ask the repair center for such possibility.

A trading option may not be available through Lenovo as Yoga 910 is no longer available for distribution.

Online buyers may offer a good price that you can decide in the future.

You may also review the hardware manual here and service training module here if you have the tools to do the repair yourself.

Re: Yoga 900 screen replacement

I am in the same boat, but in Montreal. Just noticed the upper left hand corner of screen was cracked. Never dropped it or anything. $600 seems crazy steep to replace the glass. I've had 3 Yogas and never seen this.

Re: Yoga 900 screen replacement

Same problem here in Spain. The self-cracking screen is a defective part installed on a lot of Yoga series laptops, and Lenovo doesn't guarantee nor repairs it. They just ask for a ridiculously high amount of money, higher than the real value of the overpriced ultrabook netbook Yoga 900.

Re: Yoga 900 screen replacement

I have the YOGA 90013ISK (the original one), I need to replace a cracked screen.  Can I replace it with the new screen from the 920 Vibes (UK name)

If so, where can I get one?

If not, what do I need to replace the cracked glass?  Do I need to replace the whole unit, or just the glass?
